I am sure this is common knowledge to all of you Jeep veterans out there, but for the noobs, how do you get the thing to flash the check engine error code?

Found it. Looks like an O2 sensor is going out.

When I get a CEL (Check engine light) I stop the jeep, pop the hood and 9 times out of 10 it's still there.

I don't think that you can get the light to flash anymore. I remember doing it with my NO-BD 1991 honda CRX, but I think that with OBD I and II it has been replaced with a plug and software, Autozone will scan the OBD system for you for free.

Yup, the engine is still there. :)

It looks like it is the "Oxygen sensor not closing properly" P1196
