Hey I am thinking of getting a frankenlift for my jeep. I am wondering if it is something i could install myself, or if i should get a shop to do it. I have some mechanical experence. I work on Model A fords, but have never worked on a modern suspension system (All As have are friction shocks and leaf springs). So basically i am wondering if it is practacle for me to do it myself in my shop, and then get the wheels alligned later. Thanks,
Steve

If you have a socket set, wrenches, ratchet-straps, and maybe some spring compressors, then you should be able to install it in a few hours. Jack stands and a floor jack are also good for safety purposes. The hardest part is pulling and compressing the struts so you can bolt them onto the lower control arms. The pulling and compressing is where the ratchet-straps and spring compressors are handy.

no spring compressor needed with the franky, just sockets, a 2x4, and a friend...
