'95 YJ - need lift/mod advice

So my fiance will let me lift her seldom used YJ - 4.0 HO. I'd like to run 33's (or the metric equivalent).

She will not let me scratch it, however - so I do not think it will get a whole lot of use on trails. (Until she relents, anyway). :twisted:

Any recommendations on a particular lift?

What about gears, steering and brakes - will the stock set-up perform for limited off-road use. My concern with the brakes and gears would be more for on road performance/safety.

Any advice would be appreciated!

I would go 16" tires, they seem to have more options now-a-days. My buddy loves his Rancho lift on his YJ, says it rides better than stock. He also mentioned how great their warranty is, as they have replaced one leaf pack and a shock for shipping only.

My brother has a 3.5" RCD ( I think ,I know it's the Superlift "cheepo")
I know it rides better than stock
I can tell you that you will need to regear I would go 4.56 with a 5 speed and probably 4.10 with and auto ,the 3 speed will be cause you to crank out to many rpm with 4.56's
That is what my bro has ,4.56 5 speed on 33" tsl's, and loves it can crawl up any thing and turns less rpm than I do with 3.73 auto TJ on 30's
I think that he is right at what the KJ does with the 3.73 and the 4 speed auto on 29.5" tall tires (225/75/16) when going 70 mph
befor the regear he could not use 5th even with the 4.0

First you probably mean 16" wheels not tires (I hope :wink:

) and second, where did you come up with that 16" wheels give you better tire options? Look anywhere online, like tirerack.com, and you'll see that not only are 15" rims cheaper than 16" rims, the tires that go w/a 15" rim are much more vast. The tires with a 15" rim are also cheaper as well...my $.02

I did not want to "stir the pot" so I kept quiet on this one
but you are 100% correct If it were not for the steering junk the KJ would have the stock alum. from a TJ on it right now
They are 15's and for the same size OD tire it would be over $20 cheeper per tire
But oh well and now
245/75/16 IROK enough said
