Just wondering if anyone else has been drooling over this thing:

http://www.dodge.com/en/nitro/interior.html?feature=mygig

I know it is double din and the liberty is 1.5 din, but how good would it look
in my libby!

Anybody put a double din (double size radio or nav system) in their libby?

How much did you have to cut to make it fit?

Pics?

I haven't but I have done three single dins in the Libby and it looks like there is enough room for a double. If I could afford it I would have a double with a sweet nav system. I love cutting up the factory stuff :D

The double din is a problem, but i don't think its what's keeping this from working. The KJ uses the PCI communications bus, and the REC and MyGIG use the CAN bus. I'm pretty sure its possible to go from CAN to PCI (to install aftermarket nav systems in a WK for example), but not the other way around. I would love to be wrong...it would be nice to have a few more quality factory options available for navigation.

Hmmmmmm

I can guess and say steering stereo controls etc.

I have a base model, so maybe CAN not a problem?

more on the CAN bus

I don't think the trim level is going to matter. There was probably no desire to upgrade the KJ to a purely CAN bus because the KK is right around the corner (as hyedipin so coldly points out....).

It is beyond just being a CAN/PCI issue, and no, you cannot upgrade from PCI to CAN. Even in CAN BUS vehicles, you cannot just install MyGIG because the CAN has to be specifically engineered for it. CAN sucks, and I will leave it at that. I have CAN in my Charger and it keeps me from adding, swapping, upgrading...anything.

It's very easy to upgrade any OEM system with this: http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_cleansweep_pages.php?page_id=94

if big screen is not a big deal, get an aftermarket HU that supports USB, and get 80GB HDD :) Or you can just use 4GB flash usb. $250+$50, for like $300 all good. That's what I did..
