I've experienced a troubling situation. When the front ball joint recall was performed on my 2002 liberty sport, the ABS light went on. After considerable debate with the service center and their diagnoses that my L.F. speed sensor was bad, they agreed to replace it, at the cost of the sensor. Seemed reasonable enough however after they installed a new sensor, the problem was not solved.

I am very aware of the entire system and own a factory shop manual, plus realize that the sensor and ABS system 'should' have nothing to do with the ball joint replacement, however for whatever reason unknown to me and the service center it happened.

So anyways now the service center wants to wash their hands of the whole deal and begin charging me by the hour to diagnose the problem.

I don't like this idea as it was working perfectly well before the joint replacement.

What's worse is they have no idea of what's wrong too.

All we know at this point is that the code reader says there's no signal coming from the L.F. Speed sensor, when first turned on after code reset and while drive testing. .

This leaves me with a few possible ways to diagnose the problem myself or direct them to the reasons.

1. find possible Ohm variables from the sensor, while in the off position. it sends a converted digital information from magneto resistance. Anybody know what it might read?

2. find possible variables preventing the sensor from receiving the supplied 12v current.

3. learn what test points and variables I should expect to perform an upstream diagnosis.

The service center says that their trouble shooting section go to the point of replacing the sensor, and seeing as that either did not work or the new sensor may be at fault they do not know how to proceed as well.

And lastly how in the heck could this malfunction be correlated to the ball joint change? The service center says they did not perform any electronic testing before we pointed out the ABS light, right when they had completed the joint change. (eliminating the possibility the the code reader shorted out something)
