If you go to the CRD FAQ page all questions will be answered. Fumpoto valve & adaptor is second on the page and if you have the skid plate for transfer case then ask for the fumoto valve for it and you won't have to drop that skid plate to drain it either.

M18X1.5 no adapter needed. You will also need to buy or borrow a thread tap the same size and tap out the threads in the oil pan. I just did mine last week.

While your at it, get the Fumoto valve for the transfer case too (If Greg, at Lubrication Specialists still has them).

Using a tap to rethread will not make the hole any smaller. The original hole is to large and the valve is to small. You run a very big risk of that plug coming out. Why do I know this, because I bought a oil pan so the proper adapter could be made. The tap will be at least half the cost or more of the adapter.

Hey Greg some people can't/won't learn from the advise of the experienced, they have to get struck by lighting and learn the hard way.

If 18mm is enough of an oversize to allow cutting good threads, then I don't see the problem. If it is merely a change in pitch, that will be trouble.

I contacted Greg first about a Fumuto adapter for my CRD. Unfortunately, he is sold out. After searching the web, I found a number of adapters but do not know which size, if any, are correct.

Any chance, Greg would order/make more?

The FAQs are very helpful, but in this case, the parts are no longer available.

As I stated in other threads, the threads in the pan are a non standard sensored word thread of some kind. The pitch is close but is still between a couple of standard sizes.

I will only make more if their is a LOT of interest. Its to costly to to have a hand full made and I don't want to be setting on a couple of hundred of them for a year or two to get the cost down.

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread. I've got a fumoto on my Diesel Ram and love it. I'd been meaning to order one, but just hadn't gotten around to it darnit. That goofy OEM drain plug on the oil pan just looks like its asking for trouble...

Check with some of the dealers and fast oil change places. Local dealer has replaced one oil pan for sure and it may be two or thee of them, because of improper replacement of the plug.

I do my own oil changes, and I'm really careful with that plug. I don't even want to contemplate stripping or cross-threading that sucker. Gives me the shakes.

My oil pan threaded out just fine and the fumoto fit tight. I got the advice to use the M18X1.5 here on this forum. Worked for me, so thanks to whomever gave me the size to order.

So there are no more Fumoto valves for the CRD?

There are many F101s available, but you need a special adapter to make them fit properly. It is the adapter that is the problem. It is very difficult to get information on what size adapter we need. I have contacted Fumoto, and they have been evasive, or just said there is no valve available.

I know exactly whats needed. The the valve I used was not the F101. I'm watching the pole and if numbers keep going up I my have more made.

Is there any reason I couldnt take a stock drain plug and drill and tap it for whatever thread size your valve is? What is that thread size anyhow.

EDIT: Actually perhaps thats what you could do to save on the adaptors. I dont know how much the plugs cost, but I would hope it is cheaper than machining your own. Something to look into perhaps.

There is NO, repeat NO actual thread size, that is why it is refered to in the trade as a "bast@rd" thread. They have used a special thread cut that no one has a die or tap for, size is cut special for the plug and no one else can match w/o great expence.

Actually your way would probably double or tripple the cost, because you add an extra machining step that has no way to secure the bolt w/o damaging the threads. It is cheaper to buy a blank piece w/o threads to be damaged when clamping and just drill the center then cut threads, or possible start with hollow stock then cut threads.

Greg has done the job the correct/proper way and I understand his concerns with having enough sales to cover his investment. Put yourself in his shoes as a small business, you can not tie up a $1000 for a year to make a $100 proffet and stay in business. Even large companys will not do that, that is why special low number count stuff cost so much. If you are selling hundreds of these a day then the unit cost would have a drastic drop in cost and the proffit margin per unit would also drop.

Back in December 2006 I sent a note to VM Motori inquiring about the size of the oil pan drain plug in the R428 DOHC.....
Ms. Nicola Frabetti was very kind and helpful and informed me that it is a: M22x1.5mm.
AND I do believe Fomoto has one in that size. FG7B, same as the 94-01 Dodge Cummins part number.
Order one and see if she fits....
And MANY THANKS again to Ms. Frabetti. She has been very kind and helpful answering many of my CRD engine questions.
