245/75/16 fit 06 w/no lift!

Well they kind of fit... I REALY needed tires but was a little short on cash and did not want to end up buying tires twice so i went ahead and took a big chance. I purchased a set of the new Kuhmo 245/75/16 MT KL71. The KJ is a 2006 with no mods. The final result is rubbing on the front of the fenders (fog light doors on earlier KJs) at full lock only and very slight rubbing on the pinch weld cover in revers at half turn. So far an 8" curb does not cause enough flex to rub. So if you need to get by on 245/75/16 for a SHORT time on the street, you can. Just take alot of care and caution! And remember every KJ seems to be a little different so this may or may not work for you. (My EMU HD springs are going in this weekend.) PS ALL MT TIRES ARE LOUD :wink:

regardless of what anyone says. Looking back at it i most likely should have got some AT's for my taste and needs, but my opinion will likely change when i get into the dirt. Its all about compromise.

oh them babies are packed in there dang. looks like you better get a lift on that bad boy they have to rub pretty hard have you done any fender augmentations? Tough looking tires though

1) tires look good

2) they also look so close I'd expect them to rub anytime you turn the steering wheel or hit a bump

3)a lift would be a good thing.

tires only rub slightly believe it or not. no fender triming at all! if i only drove on the street, i could live with it even without triming. i'v hit some big ditches and potholes, some big enough to bend somting in a passenger car, and no rub (i've stoped to check right after and no fresh scuffs on tires or fenders). I do believe i have unusualy stiff factory springs because my 2005 kj's ride was amazing, the faster you drove the more the ditches disapeared with full control) this 2006 rides like my old civic scca race car. you feel even a cigarette but when you drive over it. (old kj died of Chrysler lemon poisoning - unidentified engine management failure... long story.

P.S. 213 miles since i put them on

just to clarify before people start beating on me... I am not saying by any means to attempt doing this unless you absolutly have to. I think i got lucky with my KJ. I do have EMU HD springs that i just did not have time to install last saturday when i did the tires. Thats my disclaimer

Looks like you have a slight ding in your left rear bumper cover. You could easily pound that puppy back out.

The only reason I say anything is because it happened to me... that was a fun night..I missed the entrance to the highway... then had to turn around. Upon turning around I drove over a huge tree log (did not even feel it) then the girl friend said "LOOK OUT FOR THE....." bang... fire hydrant. opps...

O yea.. those Tires fill out nice.. don't do in reverse too fast..

Yeap that dent IS from my girlfriend, she backed up into a rental car. ( not a scratch on the Torrus!)Doesn't look like much in the photo but the side bumper clips are all broken and the plastic fender is also loose. I'm gona wait to replace it until i get a rear hitch and fabricate a steel hitch mounted guard. I have to park on the street sometimes and there are a lot of knumbnuts that can't parallel park.

They dont seem to rub at all with the ARB front bumper.

I bought the Frankenlift II for my CRD but havent put it on yet. Thought I would try it with the 245/75 on the stock wheels.

Works good no rubbing at all.

they will rub, but how much, is anyones guess. i put 4000+ miles on them now with no lift and minimal rubbing on the street. (i did shave the rear fender rivets off twice now when flexed all the way) each kj sits a little bit different from the next. You would just have to try it out, and if your like me, have a lift ready to install just incase they rub too much.

Ok these are the exact tire I was thinking of buying... I have a 2.5 inch lift that I had installed 2 weeks ago and I also did a clevis lift... Hmmmm I have a pic somewhere here...

Would these tires fit with my lift and no modifications? If this guys are "barely rubbing" on stock... wouldn't my 2.5 - 3" lift eliminate that? I love these tires!

Opinions please...

The lift will eliminate the rubbing, but at full articulation, you will always see some rubbing, that is why most people flatten the pinch weld (! do not cut it in any way!) only trim the plastic around so you can pound it down with a BFH. in the rear you will also rub at full flex, unless you put in taller bump stops, that will limit max upward travel though and articulation. On the street you should not see much of any rubbing. I would flatten the pinch weld and forget the rear bump stop and just rivet the rear flares on with aluminum or stainles rivets so you do not shave them off on the rare occation. As far as the performance of these, they are great! I have 10000 mainly street miles on them and there is almost no rounding ot the tread blocks, or cupping so far. (i do not baby this thing in any way on the street.) rotate them every 5k or so and they should last.

Yes this is my daily driver and I primarily got the lift to improve the ride and for looks... I don't do any "off-roading" save for the occational dirt / bush road. I don't know when I'll be at full articulation if ever... but if it becomes a problem then... I'll deal with it...

I think I'll go with these tires... they are reasonably enough priced and have a nice aggressive look...

thats wierd. everybody says how 245-75-16 rubs even on 2.5"-3" lifts, hmmm. thats why i was only going to go with a 245-70 or MAYBE 255-70 so it wouldnt rub. im planning on a rustys coil lift with clevis lift or rustys top plate/spacer, and an OEM upper rear isolator

so now i might end up going with the 245-75-16 BFG MT
