Out of all the many tire size discussions I have read here and elsewhere I have never seen one mentioning this tire size of 215/85-16 on a stock Liberty. I'm just wondering if it's a fit without rub since it's taller at 30.4" but actually the same width of 8.46" as the stock 215/75-16 that came on our '04. I actually prefer a taller, narrower tire where we live in the northern mountains of Utah because it seems to go better in the rain, snow (deep and hardpack) and offroad on rock and dirt. I run a 255/85-16 Mesa C/T (not one of the recalls in recent news) from Big O on my Ram 1500 and it's one diggin' tire. I'm considering the Mesa A/P in the 215/85-16 size if any one can confirm that it will work on my wife's stock KJ.

My stock 215's slid to a stop at every stop sign on wet pavement, that ended when I went to a 245's.

Maybe you'll have better luck.

I've always found taller/narrow only worked well if there was a bottom.

You'll probably rub a lot since its about the same height as the 245/75/16's.

Those are about 2 inches taller than the 215/75's. I'm not sure if you could fit them without a lift. I went to a 225/75 first, and they were an inch taller, but the same width. I then went to a 245/70 and they are an inch taller, and inch wider than the stock 215/75's. If you really want a 215/75, I still have my stock ones. They only have 4800 miles on 4, and the spare has 0.

Anyways, hope the above info helps you out.

So has anyone out there run 215/85/16. I am looking to get better gas mileage since putting on 245/75/16 and a 2" Rusty's lift. I figured the thinner tire would be better gas mileage, plus the fact that it is taller will increase the gas mileage too(less rotations per mile). Has anybody had any experience with this size? I am going to take the lift kit off and do a clevis lift, does anybody know if they will rub?

Thanks in advance

I run 215/85-16s in the summer on my 2002, but only since I installed a 2.5" Rockfather Lift. I didn't notice any change in fuel mileage, but a slight loss of acceleration over the 245/70-16 Cooper snow tires I was running. The 245s rubbed slightly before I installed the lift. The only reason I ran the 215s is that I got 5 of 'em free with a set of dually rims I bought.

That's a great deal!! I looked at them and after shipping it would be $287 to Florida, I'm thinking about it, is there any reason I shouldn't??
