31x10.5 vs 245-75-16

ok, i decided on what lift im going to get, the rustys 2.5" coil lift, and im adding one additional isolator in the rear and either a clevis lift or the rustys top plate spacer, or both, for the front.

i cant decide what size tire to get, i was going to go with 255-70 or 245-75, i dont want it to rub. i heard a lot of rubbing happens when people add wheel spacers or get different offset which pushes the wheels out and changes the rubbing contacts points. should i be ok with my stock renegade green wheels with a 245-70? i want a aggressive offroad tire, but its hard to find them smaller than a 31x10.5 size. i just know that its a little tougher to get tires to fit in our libertys, espically knobby offroad tires

so im probably going to go with the firestone destination mt in 245-75, i just didnt know how much bigger 31x10.5 was compared to it, cuz it opens up the doors to more aggressive offroad/mud tires. im guessing a 31x10.5 is more comparable to a 265-75-16, in that case ill just stick with the 245-75 or maybe even just a 245-70 A/T

The problem with the 31X10.5 is the 15" wheel and finding on that fits
MOST 31X10.5's are not 31" high but rather in the 30.5" range
wich is very close to the 30.7" of a 245/75 tire

I will be test fitting my 245/75 as early as tomarrow night
but probably in the next week or so
I am only running the OME springs for lift so I dont know what issues will come up but I guess I wil find out then
from the looks they should fit fine with a pinch weld fix for sure

oh yea i forgot about the wheel size lol. i figured they made the 31x10.5x16's too. oh well. i had cragar d-window 15x7 wheels on my liberty and they fit fine, they were 4.5" offset with 235-75-15 tires and didnt rub, but were about 1/8" away from rubbing the pinch weld, and JUST touched the foglight door area at FULL lock, never made any noise tho, thats how little it touched

I just put 245 75 r16 Timberline MTs on my liberty with rusty's lift with extra isolators and clevis lift. I Had to do the regular pinch weld pound down but there we be some trimming on the front of the liner as well because at full turn it rubs on there. Just to give you an idea of what you have to look forward too

tell you want though makes the liberty look 10x tougher. I have gotten several compliments from jeep enthusiasts and it sure does feel good  GL with your tires

245/70/16 will be absolutly fine with NO RUBBING thats what I run with my Rusty's lift ( BFG AT's )

Since you already have the 15" rims, I'd go with a 15" tire. You'll get more tire options, and your stance will be widened with the 4.5" B.S. Unless you're afraid to pound your pinch weld over and do a little plastic pushing up front in the fog light area.

i sold those wheels though lol. ill probably end up going with 255-70 or 245-70 A/T's, idk ill decide once i get the lift. or ill just go all out and get the 245-75 mud tires

The Parnelli Jones MTs are available as a 31X10.50/16. They also seem to do very well off and on the road.
