The engine skid was the only decent MOPAR skid made, but they changed the design by removing the reinforcement right below the pumkin, and also removing the mounting point on the rear driver corner. So which one's the current part -- left or right?
When I ordered my engine skid from my dealership, the first one they gave me was the one on the right. I returned it because my front crossmember didn't have a hole were you've circled in red. A week later, I went back intending to repurchase the returned part (I was going to drill), and the parts guy gave me the skid plate shown on the left. Oddly enough, they were both sold under the same part number. You'd think DCX could keep this stuff straight! So I guess it's a crap shoot when the time comes to replace this skid. It's anybody's guess whether I'll get the correct part.

Just cleaned mine out, and as per an earlier post, I have the tranny skid over the engine skid. According to the factory manual that's the way it goes. I know a lot of you are recommending it be put under the engine skid but I feel this would weaken it slightly as it would not be flush anymore with it's respective mounting points. Has anyone actually lost theirs? It is also my understanding that the front skid should take the brunt of the impact where's the tranny skid is more for sliding over. If I'm wrong on this aspect please correct me.

Thanks guys

You can get a decent torque wrench from sears for $78.00
here is a link

But just a fair warning, the torque wrench is considered a "precesion tool" and IS NOT COVERED under the famous craftsman lifetime warranty.

Definently a good investment.

You will bend the little tabs that way. They are for nothing else than to hold the front while you get a bolt started in the back. This design tells you that they go under the front engine skid. You should be able to see the little slots that they go in.
