Which Tire Size? (need more info than chart)

Ok guys, I'm running a 2.1" lift which is why the chart doesn't work all that well for me...

this is for an '02 not-lowered liberty. stock coils / struts. 2.1" budget spacer lift. and no wheel well modifications.

I'm currently running 245 / 75' dueler revo's (AT) which have no rub and were amazing.

I'm getting set up for camp jeep this year, and my only problem is they're two years old now, and the tread has worn down considerably. It's time for me to upgrade and I want to know what you guys think the biggest / best tires I could stuff in there would be.

I'm all in favor of tearing into my wheel well.. she's payed off now, and is officially my off-road toy.

Just wanted some advice since the chart doesn't have 2.1" listed on it... am I stuck with the 1.5" sizes?

Also, just for kicks here's a pic of the jedi at CJ last year in wisconsin...

it was a 14 hour drive.... and on that 14 hour drive I learned a very important lesson... having your arm out the window in the wind for 14 hours might feel really fantastic at the time... but the next day, sunburn owns.

If you are running on prelowered springs plus a 2.1" spacer then I would guess you are sitting on what would be a 2.5" lift for a KJ that was lowered from the factory. I think the prelowereds were .5-.75 higher than after they lowered them. Just for a rough estimate. I would go with the 2.5" listed on the chart.

Anyways, I hadn't even thought about the pre-lowered springs giving me the same lift as a 2.5 now.. AWESOME.

265 / 75 MT's here I come!

Any recommendations?
I'm thinking the Bridgestone Dueler M/T D673 or the Firestone Destination M/T

hahah with 265/75 MT's your going to have to really hog into your inner fenders and front bumper! haha just a warning! i think it's still well worth it..

does the 235 / 85 have an advantage over 265 / 75? does it give extra ride height? I would have assumed that the extra width from the 265's would give more traction, is that not so?

and those timerline MT's look feirce! I'll definitely check them out.

Also, nope I'm not jedijeeper... though I remember him from the old forums too.

The 265/75 and 235/85 are the same dia. The 235 fits better in the wheelwell when stuffed and the difference in width can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your terrain, either would be small though. Traction is the relation of the tire to the ground and the adhesion factor because of the weigh of the rig to this fact. A thinner tire the same height would naturally have more weight on the ground per sq in of tire contact, this drives the tread into every nook and cranny in the terrain and can improve traction. The wider tire improves floatation and rides more on top the terrain. Also thinner tires can be better in water and mud as they are not pushing as big a wall of slop in front of them to drive the rig forward, in the wider tire if you are in mud deep enough to give you a decent body drag along with tire drag than the floatation factor can lift you a little and maybe get you through better. It's a compromise either way, same for sand as a medium, floatation may be a better choice.
There was a reason why the tires till the 70's were narrower and why you still see the narrower tires used on the V6 and 4 cylinder Jeeps.

do you have any pics of the cutting / pounding you had to do to the wheel well to fit those 235 / 85's in?
