Sooo, my new to me '03 Renegade picked up a nail the other day. I put the spare tire on it (brand new, never used), put it up front, passenger side.

They are the Goodyear SR-A 235/70/16's. The tires have been worn down to less than half their life (I'd say they only have about 25% of their life left... half the tread is worn off them). I don't want to put all new tires on until the winter (say September).

Is the front Passenger side a good spot for this tire? Should I put the now patched old tire back on since it has the same tread wear - don't know if I'd trust the patched tire to a new one though?
I don't want to put it on the back since the jeep has LSD/Trac-lock, so I think the front is the best place for the new tire. Would it mess with the 4WD at all? (I have the selec-trac full/part time).

You can trust the patched tire. I'd put it back on and put the spare back as a spare, if there is that much difference. No point in using that tire up when you can sell it onec your other four are worn out and you are ready to replace with better tires.

If you are not changing tire sizes, you can keep the SRA as a spare for the new tires....just put a tire cover on it so people can't see the difference in tires....LOL!
