It seems that the computer "learns" your driving habits from what I read on here. Is this a one time thing? If not, what happens when my wife drives? We don't drive the same way! Just what does it do?

The computer is continuously "learning". It has a basic program that will run the engine and transmission, however the computer learns and adjusts the program to make it more efficient (or at least what it was programmed to recognize as efficient). In other words, it adjusts its operation program based on the input signals and the reaction from the engine and transmission due to the change in the outputs. It uses the outputs to tweak the engine to attain the desired inputs. We had to write equations to do these sorts of things in college, not a pretty sight.

I don't have first hand intimate knowledge of the actual programs, so I might be a little off, but based on my experiences, this is more than likely how it works.

I am not sure about how it learns or whatever it does but I do know that on mine if I just run it around town here never over 40/45 for a week or so then hit the interstate for a long distance run at first it runs different than what it does say 10/15 miles down the road after it relearns that we are not dodging Toledos potholes! Its like it starts running easier/ more free after a while. :? make sense?? after I reread it maybe not, but even my wife can tell and she has never driven it, she just rides along and looks great doing it. So i would think although it may take a few miles it will relearn your driving style

Mine gets better gas mileage while relearning. If I drive the interstate for a week and then go to city driving for a while i get better gas mileage for a while but then the mileage settles back down into the same old rut. Just something weird i've noticed on mine
