I thought it would be interesting to find out how hot it was under the hood where the cold air intake is on a stock KJ. I used a remote temp. Gage that transmits the temp to an in house unit. The in house unit operates on batt. also.

The KJ was warm from driving when I hooked everything up. It was 100.7 under the hood when I left for a 20 minute drive to pick up my wife. I had to drive a couple of miles at 45MPH and the temp. dropped to 90. Then it was interstate @ 65MPH the temp. dropped to 87.6 and the outside temp. was 82.

When I arrived at the wife's work place it was 91.2 I was 15 min. early so I thought I would put on the AC and see what happens. At 5min. it was up to 111.1, at 10min. it was 119.2 and at 15min. it 122.7!

Anytime I stopped for a light it got hotter, as expected.

Terry

Sure is! This guy still has a little northern PA blood flowing and that don't help.

ha! Ive got one of those weather stations also with the wireless tranmisster. Im going to try this for sure! Where did you put the transmitter and how did you mount it? I think Ill just put it inside the air box to see how hot the air is that the engine is getting.

Then Ill move it and put it over the radiator and condenser. :)

I used good old duct tape and put it up close to the air intake. After I was heading down the road I thought that I should have put it in the air box.

Yeah, put it in the airbox. I am curious of the temp of air through the intake.
