Here's the latest. Sorry for the delay. Went on vacation and lost track of a few things.
Something must be wrong with my cookies or something, because I've received absolutely no e-mail notificatons to any of the snorkel posts at all. I thought the topic had just gone completely dead.
I was also under the impression that the snorkel buy would be made a sticky, but I guess it wasn't, so it kept getting buried down the line.
The snorkels have not been ordered yet.
We really needed a minimum of 15-20 orders to get things done in the original timeframe. I didn't post that in the original buy-in post. I never gave that any thought, as I've received SO MANY e-mails over the last couple of years from guys saying they would buy this snorkel as soon as it came out. I just figured 15-20 orders would be easy, based on that.
The buy-in discount was also based on that.
We ended up with 5 orders on the buy-in.
Here's where we stand- I WILL still honor the buy-in price for those who stepped up. The only change in plan is that the snorkels will take a good deal longer than originally planned.
Of course, no one has been charged a dime. I will NOT run anyone's credit card until the snorkels are actually ordered.
We have to order a large quantity of snorkels from Australia to spread the shipping costs out enough to make it worth while.
We cannot order a couple of snorkels here and there, as the shipping costs are astronomical and would drive the price way up!
BTW- the cost for this snorkel is not high compared to other vehicles- a safari snorkel for a late model XJ runs over $500.00 at MAP price! An older XJ safari unit runs $362.00 at MAP pricing. The snorkel for the KJ is a higher level snorkle than the XJ units and the cost level is definitely higher.
Because of the level of interest shown, I won't likely be ordering as many extra KJ units as originally planned for our stock. That means that there will be some guys who decided to wait & "see how it goes" who will want to order a snorkel later and may not be able to get one for a longer time. I can't justify tying up thousands of dollars to stock a bunch of units that won't move.
That's why we did the buy-in- to get a good idea how the market would look and to cover some our costs on a chunk of the order.
If you ordered a snorkel already, you WILL get one!
If you've changed your mind and do not want it, you need to let me know and I'll be glad to cancel it.
If you'd like to be sure and get a snorkel on the first shipment, you can still order one- It won't be at the buy-in price, but at least you can know one will be reserved for you on the first shipment.
It's a tough thing, as we can only order snorkels once or twice a year due to demand and quantities needed to make an order. Hopefully this makes things a little clearer as to what's going on.
