I guy at work bought one for his Jeep, the same one that is in the link below. It's illuminated at night, I think amber colored, then Red colored to mark the RED ZONE?……..I can’t remember for sure. While living in New Mexico I do remember being in some tough situations in my Wrangler and thought something like this would have been nice to have. Sometimes I got a little uneasy when at extreme angles. Most likely I was being a little paranoid as I was an amateur wheeler and in reality. A gauge like this might help me know my limitations and provide a piece of mind. Click on the link below.

Anybody else have one of these in their Libby’s?

Similar to this one, it fits perfect in dash of the Jeep Wranglers. I thought of getting one...

This one runs under $20.00

I use the "wife-o-meter" instead. When we approach a questionable area, the wife gives the thumbs up or the the thumbs down. It has become how our group rates different passages; whether my wife will ride along through it, walk - while I drive through it, absolutely forbid me to take the Jeep through or cover her eyes while others go through. :) :)

Seriously though, my dad had one of those on his Scout, years ago. It was kinda fun to watch and, as a kid, helped to see just what angle certain hills were. Kind of an educational tool for me.

WOW, I think I have a similar “wife-o-meter” that you have. Mine does the exact same thing!

Too expensive. I judge by the chain that's hanging on my rearview mirror. I don't offroad but It goes all the way to the left when I am taking a turn on highway ramp, I know I am too fast so I slow down a little..

They are the same thing. Mostly referred to as an clinometer when identified as an off-road measuring tool.

I stand corrected... but doesn't it just make sence.... you are going up an incline ---> inclinometer

you aren't going up a "cline"

Thanks for the link though... i need one of these!

Clinometers aren’t necessarily calibrated for a particular make or model. Even if they were calibrated for the Liberty, the calibration would be thrown off as soon as you put a lift on. Each and every lift will have a different roll over rate. It’s just a nice measuring tool that keeps you and your Jeep in check. :D

Yea your right it isn't calibrated for any specific make or model or any mods associated with it, but what you can do is go find a couple of nice hills crawl up them to the point your going to need a new pair of pants and then you have a point of reference.

I have one of these also. It works ok. It is kind of fun to watch. On road, you can measure how much force there is when you take off by measuring the incline.

Isn't the 'pucker-meter' more accurate as far as determining when the Liberty will start to get in trouble?

Mine doesn't say anything or use her thumbs. Instead, she slowly creeps her hand up to the "chicken bar", and I can tell she is exerting more downward pressure on the floor boards. Can't tell about the seat pucker but I am sure it is present.

I have one of these zip-tied to the rollcage in my TJ: http://www.boatersworld.com/product/467330049.htm

I start getting slightly nervous at 15* if my uphill wheels are going over good sized rocks, 25-30 or so if it's smooth. But I can just look up at the gauge and know that that I'm probably ok...

I have the exact same one that I use when parking my travel trailer. It helps me know how to use the jack stands to level it up, both side by side and from front to back. A very simple tool that makes parking the travel trailer much easier.
