I've seen the Scan Guage II but I don't care about the information display since the CRD's computer stops talking after a while anyway. Anything cheaper to show and clear codes?

ya, key trick to view, disconnect batt cable to clear.

or drive to autozone to view and clear....this one costs a little more since you have to pay for fuel and wear and tear on the jeep.

OK, what's the cheapest way to clear them in my driveway without going to Autozone or disconnecting the battery?

I have yet to get the key-trick to show codes. Can you outline what method you use?
