We went on a trip to Wy in January and saw 19 mpg. I was doing cart flips. my EVIC is always around 15.2.

You came here in January? Wow! Most people get scared when you mention Wyoming and winter months in the same sentence.

Casper is the only place I have had to pedal a bicyle down a steep hill to keep it moving. Compared to Casper, Chicago just has a little breeze now and then.

I think its worth mentioning in this post that 4hi and full time 4 is not the same thing. It depends on which type of system you have if you have the 4x4 full time or not. Check here http://www.jeep.com/4x4/ to see the difference.
It would be a bad thing to have someone misunderstand and drive around in 4hi all the time.

If someone tried driving in 4-hi on a dry paved road - they'd instantly notice something isn't right when said person tried to make the first turn.

A long time ago when I was dating my wife, she turned on the 4x4 on my Ranger while we were going through the Wendy's drive through line. You know the part where it turns!?! Needless to say that was the moment where she learned how a 4x4 works.

Nope, just don't shift into or out of FT 4x4 over 55. I've had my KJ at highway speeds (65 mph +) many times in FT 4x4, and when passing other vehicles, up to 80-ish.

Same here, did 90 and had no problems with 4x4. It is selec trac, and it is supposed to work just fine. There are no limitations of 4x4 Full Time. You can use it ALL THE TIME, year-round, day/night, weekday, weekend, that's why it is called FULL TIME. ;)

Just don't use 4HI all the time, to those who doesn't have selec-trac.

I haven't read it for the KJ, but in my previous 2001 WJ, the manual said not attempt to engage over 70 MPH. If that is the definite "don't even think about it" point, there is a likelihood that it would start complaining just prior to that. As far as top speed, FT4WD should be fine all the way to the top.

I agree with the "engagement" I wouldn't suggest anyone engage over 55, like manual says, and actually what is the purpose of engaging at that speed!? If it is getting slippery you should slow down anyway, if not slippery, just wait a bit to engage.

The dealer said "that's what Chrysler says not to engage over 55, but oh well, you know how they are" I didn't know what he meant, but I just said HA and continued with the conversation.
