Just got back from a trip to L.A. and driving thru Baker on the freeway and getting 31 mpg was great even with $2.99 for the diesel. I am still getting shifting problems first thing in the morning if I don't run the engine for a couple of minutes before taking off. Before and after F37. "THEY" can't duplicate it they say:-(

Take the CRD for a 10 mile drive and back to a level spot, put CRD in park and see if the tranny fluid is between the top to marks on the dip stick. The bottom cold mark is not to payed attenton to, it is not a cold mark. If it is as little as 1/4 to 1/2 inch below the bottom mark it will do what you describe, it really needs to be close to the to mark.

I am such a silly daggit. I did my geeked out formula was all wrong. I "counted" the Diesel mpg advantage twice in the end.

Real formula is only:

CRD MPG * (Gas$/Diesel$) = bragging rights equivelent = miles per gas dollar gallon

Which for my CRD at 25 mpg is only 28 mpg$. Not as exciting

Sigh, I'm loosing it. Does that mean if you are old enough to have had a crush on Wilma Deering, that your brain is in jeapordy?

And what ever happened to a future with form fitting vinyl women's wear? Dang.

Because if there was there would have to be a trial at the Hague for crimes against humanity too.

Another reason should be that the CRD was also an attempt to educate SUV owners that "torque" is what you drive on.
The SUV market has been flooding with high horsepower engines. In the U.S., " You buy horsepower, but drive torque"
