Do you know how many different size tyres the KJ has been sold with? From what understand they have come out with a 235/70/16 & a 255/70/16. Can anyone add to this or dispute it

I believe the OEM tires sizes are --215/75R16 and 235/70R16 for the 16 inch rims.I'm not sure on the 17" rims though.I've never heard of any KJ coming with 255/70R16's before from the factory,but since your not in the US I could be wrong about export KJ's.

For the current models the factory sizes are 235/65/17, 225/75/16 or 235/70/16.

It seems like a 255 in any aspect ratio would be a bit too wide to fit into the fenderwells. But, you never know.......

I was thinking someone put 255/70/16 on a CRD with out a lift.

You could do it (255 70s) no problem....as long as you didnt want to drive it. Or maybe you could drive it in a straight line, no turns or speed bumps 245 70s will hit some when turned while backing up. Some have put 245 75s on for a short while before a lift but.....too close for most.

That's good to know, thanks for the reply's. I wasn't 100% on the 255 but that's now cleared up . I'm running 265/70/16, with a lift & a lot of front wheel well trimming. Can't go full lock without rubbing on the swaybar but that's OK as it's only about a 1/4 of a turn that's been lost in the steering.

My insurance provider tried to tell me my tyres were not allowed on my KJ but after checking with the local RTA (Roads & Traffic Authority) I think I'm fine. As long as the load ratings are equal or grater than the stock tyre it's OK, also can't be over 15mm taller so that's cool (I'm taking it means 15mm each way). + the rubber must be suited to the rim width. The 265/70/16 Cooper STT can be fitted to a 7" wide rim & up to a 9" I think.

The reason for the question was that I was 1st told it could be no wider than 15mm of the original factory tyre & if so it was not legal (not so, RTA) So I say I'm OK but need to get new rims later as running wheel spacers isn't legal here. 5mm helps but a 13mm offset will do the job.
