so yesterday, i called Rusty's to order springs and front struts, and planned on calling All J's to order the long OME rears. Rusty SWEARS that he also sells the Old Man Emu N132L long travel rear shocks. He offered me his springs, his front struts (we'll see if they're actually OME, he says they're Monroe's), and OME N132L rears for $515 plus shipping.
Well, i ordered the kit as stated. I'll let you know at the end of next week when i hopefully have received it, whether or not the rears are what he swore they'd be. Any other ACTUALL experience with him offering what has up till now seemed to be an exclusive elsewhere?

Sometimes I have to wonder if Rustys do know what they are talking about. I tried dealing with them on a couple of things and it took forever. NOW on Cherokee parts I have never had any problems. Maybe getting parts from them is like their SFA Liberty, been sitting for what 2/3 years now and still nothing???

As far as I understood the OME N132L's were made exclusively for ALLJ's. That is why the Aussies cannot get a hold of the shocks unless they go through ALLJ's here in the states. It's not like Rusty's can just order these shocks from OME. The only way I see Rusty's getting a hold of these shocks is if they bought them from ALLJ's.

I just went through the same thing with rusty's. I highly doubt you are getting the N132L's. I think only all j's has that model. You're just getting the ome rear shock upgrade for and additional $50 plus shipping. The front stuts are OME, peel off the rusty's sticker and it's says it right on the strut. Yes rusty's told me also the fronts were monroe's. I dont know why he doesn't know what he's talking about.

He could have ordered them through All J's to drop ship to you.

This doesn't defeat the free market at all. Essentially All J's contacted ARB to have a shock similar to the N132 manufactured to fit with their lift. So now we have the N132L which fits with their lift and due just happens to fit with all other 2.5" lifts. Since All J's entered a contract with ARB for this only All J's can sell it. They still have competition, anyone could go buy Rancho shocks, or the original Rusty's shocks, it just happens to be that the OME ones are better and are exclusively at All J's due to their contract.

I believe Monroe also make OME shocks/struts so if that is the case, he is still correct.

Here is another post about Rusty's OME struts.

Tenneco is the parent company and manufacturer for Monroe and Rancho. I believe they also make the shocks/struts for several other brands. I always understood OME to be an actual manufacturer. Where is ARBSeth? I am sure he has the answers.

The fronts on the Rusty's kit ARE OME and always have been as far as I know. That hasn't changed. It's the rears that are Monroes (that everyone complains about) Maybe since Rusty's is using OME for their front struts, they have worked a deal to get the rear shocks as well now. Wasn't an option when I bought mine.

When I got mine I upgraded to the OME N132 rears instead of the standard rustys. Cost 50 bucks more. Well worth it. These are N132 not the long travels. If you get those you have to add an extended rear bumpstop or you will blow the shock apart when you bottom out.

So if you are getting the L's somehow from rusty you better get a rear stop extension, or else.

The L's are ony 1/2'' longer I am told. Not worth the extra 40 bucks per shock to me, yet....

so, is there anyone in the area interested in helping install my mystery lift any time soon? LOL a friend of mine and I are gonna attempt it, but more friendly faces are surely welcome! i will post as soon as the package arrives exactly what was shipped, whether it's the right parts or a screw up, you'll know. FWIW, $50 more for the L's seems like a great price! no extended bump stops needed with those, right?

No 50 bucks more is for the standards, N132, at least it was when I got mine. Unless rusty has some sweet deal. They are 2 inches shorter that the N132L's which are available from AllJ for 80 bucks each. The standards need no extentions. The L's do. When you bottom out all the load goes into the shock and they will pop. You need a bumpstop to limit the travel to keep that from happening. They do not have more travel they are just two inches longer that the standards. Probably good for running bigger tires cause it will help with stuffing.

Hey tjkj2002, do you know the actuall measurements of the standard and the long travel are so he can be sure of which he is getting?

If you need the bumpstop All J has then for 25 bucks a pair.

thanx freak, i may need to order the bump stops after all....im hoping that the shocks come labeled, so i can tell by that if they are what was PROMISED....and BTW, 465 for the original rusty's lift vs. 515 with the N132L rears is a $50 difference....thats what he said he was shipping....we'll see
