I believe that I may have the opportunuty to buy my old car back (with any luck at all) at the same price I sold it for. I have slightly more than enough money to do so handy, but I'm also still going to school. I will be able to get a job to help pay for school, and I would be giving the JK to my girlfriend (soon to be Fiancee) to drive, but still be making the payments on it, because it's just not fair to give someone a car and expect them to pay for it, but I digress. So, what do you guys think? Should I get back my versatile and comfortable car and give the JK to my girlfriend (she loves the JK, BTW) or not? I'm currently leaning towards "yes- do it before it's too late", but I've been known to make dumb decisions that I regret later in the past (like the JK in the first place  ) that seem GREAT at the time.

Giving up your Jeep for a car?
I don't understand.
I would hate to drive a car after being in a Jeep.
Now if I had one of each that's a different story.

Buy your old car back for less than you sold it for ... THEN consider that route.

Until she is your wife, she will be driving a vehicle that you will be paying for. Does she not have her own car? Are you letting her use it because she will be putting less miles on it? What is the old car you are buying back?

THAT would be a good trick, as I'm buying it from the same place that I sold it to a few months ago. I'll see what I can do though :D .

My girlfriend and I live together. Perhaps that takes care of that 8) .

Says the guy with the KJ that compared to the SWB JK rides like a Cadillac and has as much storage space . Not only a JK, but a JK Rubicon  . I didn't think that I'd miss having backseats, but tossing stuff in there after class sure is nice (I have a KJ for the next 2 weeks, my father and I swapped so I have more room to bring stuff home) and I miss it. I also miss my roofracks and 30mpg on the highway, and enough power to get up hills on the highway in 6th. See my post on KJ Country about my JK...It's a GREAT offroader, but its a miserable DD (bear in mind my last car).

She doesn't have a car of her own, she will be putting fewer miles on it than I would be, and it's my 2004 Saab 9-3 Aero that I bought new that I would be buying back. She'll probally take over the payments once she gets a job using said car.

Oh, and insurance on the Saab will cost less than on the JK by about $800.

depreciation. If you sold it at the same price, the car aged. You should buy it for a lot less.

My sister got screwed by her bf when she put the car in her name and he cheated on her. Well, she ended up with the payments and no car.

Whether you live with her or not, tread lightly inthose types of decisions. Insurance insurance insurance.... she pays. That's my 2 copper (supposedly) Lincolns.

LOL I figured the make and model of the car would make a difference :D ...god I love that car. The roof racks were the best- there are these little panels in the rain gutters on the roof that flip up and expose mounting points for bolt-mounted racks. Totally secure, totally versatile. I loved being able to toss my bike on the roof and go. 4 bikes fit up there. 6 pair of skis (that's the ski rack though), 3 kayaks....man those rails are great.

Congradulations. I'm enough of a man to be able to admit that I happen to like more in the way of refinement and sophisication than a jeep can offer. I do enjoy getting away in my jeep though, just not every day.

if thats fairly new, its not a Saab, its a rebadged chevy. dont waste your time buying it back. you were lucky to get what you got the first time, before it started showing its true colors.

keep the jeep

In the words of George Carlin "A Saab? What did you go buyin' a Swedish piece of sh@# like that for?"
Just kidding...nice car...you can't go wrong driving either rig...but I agree, make her pay for insurance(and do your laundry).

That is in no way a rebadged chevy. Even if Saab is owned by GM, there are no models in the GM lineup that are anything like the Saabs. (That is not a comment about quality, simply a comment about similarity)
