After much debating with myself and mulling it over with all involved, I've decided I'm going to do it, but the situation has changed a bit. I'm going to get my Saab back, my father is going to take the JK (he's been driving it while I have his KJ and he LOVES it), and to my girlfriend goes the KJ. All will be right with the world...provided my car is still on the lot and he hasn't unloaded it to an auction or something...call is going out first thing tomorrow...

... actually after your defense of Saab not being a chevy, I guess that my wife now drives a domestic as well, you see, GM purchased part of Fuji heavy industries for the 4wd technology, and sells a Saab Aero 92x which is actually a Subaru WRX, but with Saab sheetmetal.... now, if saab is owned by GM and is a chevy, and my wifes car has saab sheetmetal, does that mean that I could technically drive my (wife's) chevy to the levvy?

With GM owning saab (Which I did not know until this thread), I bet the build quality will GO UP. Contrary to what everyone is saying here, American cars have their problems, but saabs and volvos are ALWAYS in the shop. AND ARE EXPENSIVE to repair. Sure, you may know someone who has a trouble free one, but that is not the norm. Piece of crap.What did you expect, this is a jeep site.....

So does that leave you "stuck" with a liberty, or a JK?

You seem to be an optomist, so I think that you will be hapy in whatever you are driving as long as it is out of the norm.

I'ma stuck with the KJ. It's better for me than the SWB JK was though...throw some skids, lift, tires, and rails on it and I'm all set...maybe...I'm not happy about the mileage on the KJ thus far, but at least I'll be getting bad mileage, and be reasonably comfortable doing it. Another plus is that I get to distance myself from the Wrangler Elitists (I'm beginning to HATE the JKBoard) who think that the wrangler is the end-all-be-all . Could be worse I suppose. My Glock stashes better in the KJ anyway.

Oh yeah, and the biggest upside to the whole thing: I now have $11k that was previously allocated to buying my old car back...yeah, I'm getting a new bike or two .

... a new bike or two and using the rest of the money to build the KJ and travel to Moab in april to use the both of them.

So... what kind of bike you looking at?

I can think of 3 bikes that I could spend $3-5k on .... specalized S-works Stump jumper, Ellsworth Truth, Scott Randsom 40

I'm going to get a Cervelo Soloist Team and probally a 2005 Giant VT-2 (new from the dealer ) when I get home. I'll probally also buy my girlfriend a new hunting/sport rifle, she's been eyeballing some used AR's at the shop.

Hell...bikes to spend $3-$5k on.... Cervelo Soloist Carbon, Titus Racer-X, Ventana La Bruja (slightly over $5k )...

Bike to spend more than $5k on- Cervelo SLC, Cervelo R3-SL, Trek Maddone...

I'm a big Cervelo fan, can'tcha tell? I'm so pumped about getting the Soloist and the Giant...I'm going ride the freaking wheels off them. My OCR-2 has been seeing better days as of late, I got too strong for the frame and I can flex the hell out of the chain stays now ...but I like that bike, it's nice and comfy and decently quick.
I'd love to go to Moab, but where I'm going to be settling into a real job for the first time right around then...I don't think it's in the cards for next year.

I'm getting a hell of a deal on the VT-2; it's MSRP back when it was current model year was like...$2700 or something like that. The shop down the street from me has one in my size, that they haven't been able to unload, for $1200 .
