Anyone used either one of these? Junk/Gimmick or worthwhile? I'm considering one or both. Thanks!

1)Filter Minder

2)Air/Fuel Ratio Monitor

I think the filterminder might be worthwhile if it is sensitive enough to work for the KJ. You might save some cash and get one that doesnt say K&N on it though.

The A/F meter, I dont know about...but it sounds handy for tuning a carbureted motorcycle or other engine that doesnt have an O2 sensor.

EDIT: Actually that sounds pretty useless for a vehicle that already has O2 sensors. They already do exactly what it describes from the factory.

Is there even a way to adjust the fuel mixture on a 3.7? Other than reprogramming, I mean?

I installed one on my '89 fuel injected RamCharger. It just piggy backs onto an existing O2 sensor. On fuel injected engines the a/f ratio bounces around quite a bit. That may have been due to the fact that it was throttle body fuel injection and/or still relatively new technology.

It was neat, but wasn't all that useful on a day to day basis. I installed it b/c it was burning gas like it was still 99 cents a gallon. I was able to determine that the O2 sensor failed b/c it showed a lean ratio when there was black smoke and gas coming out the tail pipe.

If you read between the lines, there is some pretty good info on how well thier filters actually filter:

Quote:
• Air filters typically plug very slowly, and initial filter restriction may not occur until 50,000 miles or more depending on operating conditions. Diesel applications and off-road use will generally require more frequent cleanings or maintenance.

• Most applications will show no air filter restriction on the service indicator with a new K&N Air Filter. There may be rare instances where the position indicator could move in the window even with a new air filter. This could result from high air flow engine requirements, or from operating in high humidity or rain. Do not be alarmed if the clean air filter restriction exceeds the initial calibration of the service indicator. The air filter should not be cleaned until the yellow position indicator reaches the red zone.

• K&N Air filters become more efficient at stopping dirt as they build a dust film. It is recommended that the air filter be cleaned only when the air filter service indicator reaches the red zone.

The part in bold is really good. JUst imagine how much crap your engine has ingested by the time the indicator reaches red. :?
