If possible can we get an update from the people who bought the diesel tuners. What was the final effect on mpg, any problems with dealers, do you still have the tuner hooked up, any CEL's, would you buy the tuner again, etc?

I have the Predator tuner. NO mpg change if you drive it normal. Drive it hard(you'll want to with it plugged in) and the mpg goes down under 20. Dealer never saw it so I can't speak on that. No cel from it. I don't use it except when towing. I have mixed feelings on it. I know it helped my torque converter die. I could actually hear it slip when towing. It pulls better with it but I think you can overwhelm the driveline components if your not careful. For the normal Joe I think it is a waste of money.

I was looking at maybe getting the Predator module. Currently pull a 3500 lb trailer with my Dodge Ram single cab, but because my wife and I have a new addition coming into our family we need more room. Im setting up our 2006 CRD to pull it now instead. Bought the new Tekonsha digital brake controller and have it mounted so far, but as far as the wiring, Im taking it to my holdiday trailer dealer to do the rest. Nice thing about this controller is it can be mounted at 90 degree up or down so I placed it right of the steering wheel on the dash.

If I'm getting decent mpg without a chip or module and hills are not too much of a pain, I'll leave it stock without the worries of any malfunctions, especially with the whinny dealers here. I do have an aux cooler waiting to be installed if cooling on the trans. is not satisfied by the stock setup.

So to get to my question, do you still currently use the module and have you had any major problems with part failers. Would you think a guy could get away with just pulling with the stock setup. Don't really want to void warranty and have to start sinking in extra money for repairs especially with the new baby on the way.

I got the SP Diesel module and I get the exact same results as onthehunt. I have it hooked up but I always have it on power level 0. The only time I bump it up is when I race somebody :-) .

I'm maybe williing to sell mine, because I dont use it much anyway. Depends on the price though.

What kind of 3500lb trailer? Wind drag has more of an effect than anything. I pull 3500lbs(nominal) of oak wood on a semi-regular basis. The crd pulls it just fine stock. I don't use the chip anymore. It's just too hard on the tc. Especially stop and go. If you need the chip to tow what you have buy a bigger diesel. I'm done trying to pretend that I have something more than a liberty. I do like what I hear about the in-motion tune. I would go that route if you insist on a chip.

Its a 3500 lb. light weight (alum. frame) travel trailer. Fun Finder X210.
