Well, mine is about one problem away from becoming a Silverado. Do you know that my 10 yr old, full size Chevy pick-up is less expensive to run given the price differential with diesel fuel? If it weren't for getting screwed on the sales taxes in Ohio for trading-in a vehicle it would probably be gone by now.
Are you sure? I track my mileage and MPG via an excel spreadsheet. I've put 22k on my rig in 11-12 months, and it costs me ~$.118 per mile. My Gen II Lightning was costing me right at ~$.27 a mile.

A little update:

I took it for a test drive with the service manager last Friday to show him it still vibrates but... of course it didn't act up the whole time. He seems like he's definitely willing to work with me, though. He said a Regional DC guy would have some piece of equipment that could read the vibrations to determine where they were coming from (or something) but we'd need to wait to contact them until it is happening more consistently.

Yesterday it started to vibrate less violently, but more often (speeds around 30mph as well). But it's still not all the time.

Other random issues have also started (two sets of three beeps immediately after starting the vehicle and... ugh... the brakes started making a loud noise yesterday). I'm getting ready to contact a lemon law lawyer. I don't think I can take it anymore. :(

If anyone's following this, another update...

I took it to a different dealership Tuesday night. By some stroke of luck, I ended up dealing with the service MANAGER from the start (he's the one that answered the service dept phone!). Not only did they hook me up with a rental car (I asked, but only once), but they probably found the problem today!!! They said my right front axle is bent. He said I can pick it up and bring it back when the part comes in on Monday or hang onto the rental. I'm keeping the rental and hoping this'll be like a wedding... I won't see my lil CRD again til she's all pretty and dressed up (aka fixed)!

I'm so excited!!! I hope this is it!! :D

The dealer replaced the left front tire on mine and that cured the vibration problem. Your dealer should be able to provide that service also.

I was told (but by the last dealership, the one that's seen it three times and didn't find the bent axle) that the tires are waranteed from Goodyear, and not through the Basic Warranty/Chrysler and that if there was something wrong with the tires, I'd have to take it up with Goodyear.

My dealer called Goodyear, explained the problem, Goodyear gave the OK and sent a new tire. Many of the parts are covered under a secondary warrenty but we bought a vehicle not parts and the dealer should take care of the details....just my $.02 worth.

Well, it looks like the dearlership finally figured it out. I've put 2,000+ trouble free miles on the Jeep since I last got it back from the shop. YAY!

I'd felt off and on vibrations still, but it was the burning brakes smell that really alarmed me the one night, and I took the Jeep back to the shop the next day. Turns out the brake pads were already almost down to the squealers (again).

After my 2nd new set of brake pads and rotors (not including the set it came with), I got new calipers as well. Still not fixed. But finally... the brake booster. They had it for just over 3 weeks (this dealership supplied me with an old Stratus as a loaner), but apparently they found the culprit. I didn't want to get excited right away, but 2,000+ miles with not one vibration has me believing it's finally fixed. :-D

OK, time to order those skid plates and tow hooks that I wanted to get last year! Oh, and to call the guy up at DC again and see if I can get a deal on an extended warranty, cause who knows what else the thousands of miles of vibrations will end up having damaged down the line...

When I was looking for a CRD before I got mine I was at a dealership that had a brand new CRD with it's brake booster removed to repair a customer's CRD  this might be something to watch for :D

REALLY?!?! Very interesting!

The dealership was in very close contact with the "hotline" and Daimler-Chrysler techs while trying to fix mine (probably really wanted to fix it to avoid the hassle and cost of lemoning it). They said there were no other reports of similar problems, and that's why they were having such a hard time diagnosing what was wrong.

Having worked in computer service for too many years I can tell you that good tech support people are few and far between  Getting a car declared a Lemon is a cost of doing business for them and a real pain for the consumer
