okay somehow my antenna mast broke today on the highway, and it is no longer with me , i gave it a funeral

anyways, i dont like the mast, its ugly....so maybe ill take off the whole unit and put another trail rated badge on it in its place

my idea is, just like most newer vehicles from factory come with the "wire" antenna that is on the windows....is there an aftermarket version like this to install? anyone have any ideas?

How is that possible?
You can always get an aftermarket "Euro" antennas from ebay, they are cheap and they are short, I am not sure how bad your housing is but you should be able to get it fixed easily. Otherwise get rid of the antenna and put a badge there, like you said.

I have had good luck using the Metra 44-UA20. It is an amplified antenna about the size of a roll of pennies. It comes with adhesive to stick it pretty much any where. I used to stick them in one of the lower corners of the wind shield (on the inside of the vehicle). They work really well. Here is a link to it on crutchfield:

You should be able to get them at your local circuit city or best buy as well.

Overseas KJ's have the antenna in the window.

Short plastic one may work for ya. Any thought on a cb antenna there like AdamIsAdam and TokyoJoe? Sturdier and harder to knock off.

The mount is still the same. Someone else did this mod and was able to fit a heavy duty spring with the antenna.

Forget the antena.
Install Sirius radio. A little antena on your roof works perfectly.

I'd go with a shark fin antenna, like the ones at http://www.visualgarage.com/home.html. It will require removing the headliner, drilling the roof, and so forth, but I love the look.

I wish my antenna would break so I'd have the perfect excuse to install one. Just my 2 cents.
