You only have one child?

If so, how can the KJ be too small?

There are people on here with three children and they feel that it is roomy enough.

Have a 4 month old, the backwards facing car seat requires that the pass. seat be moved up almost to the fartest forward position, thus leaving the front passenger seat to far forward to use.

You gotta do what you gotta do, but I can't see one child and his/her baby gear taking up so much space that you need to upgrade to a larger vehicle. I'd recommend packing lighter, if possible, but it seems too late for that now. Sorry you let go of your Liberty so soon.

I'll be buying a Honda Odyssey later this year, but only because we're expecting our third child this fall. After checking out various 3rd-row SUVs and "crossover" vehicles, a van is the only way to go comfortably and still have room behind the third row for more than one small suitcase. Minivans give you a lot of vehicle and safety features for the money! When we test drove the $31K Mazda CX-9, we couldn't fit anything other than our double-stroller in the back, and even that was a challenge. Any suitcases, pack'n'play, etc. would need to be loaded into a rooftop carrier, and if you've used one of those, you know that they're inconvenient for everyday use and will decrease your gas mileage on the highway to to wind resistance.

I transported my wife, 4-year-old, and 16-month-old down to TN in our KJ and had plenty of interior room. Our rooftop carrier held a stroller, booster seat, and various lightweight items like sleeping bag and pillows, leaving the Liberty's cargo area for our heavier items like suitcases. The RoofBag soft cargo bag held up well even in a few thunderstorms and is nearly waterproof (technically it's "water resistant"). It's really well made for only $50. Don't even bother with the $30 carriers at Wal Mart. They'll rip to shreads after 500 miles.

Luckily, I'm keeping our KJ because it's paid off. My wife will trade in her Mazda6, which is only 1 year old.

You will love the odyssey! When kid number four came along (we have got to get that TV fixed), so began the era of the minivan. Of the vans on the market, I think the ODY is most appealing from a driver's perspective. And don't let the dealer talk you into paying sticker for this "hot van"! There is plenty of wiggle room on price if you stick to your guns. Chek out odyclub.com when you get a chance.

sorry it took so long to get back on the comments and questions.

We really fought our selves not to trade in the KJ. my wife and I travel alot and having to stop and empty the back of the KJ to do diper detail was starting to become a real pain. Plus all the stuff we have to bring now. It is easy using the mini van with big side doors for getting the little man in and out.

It was heart breaking letting her KJ go, We still have min and use it for short local trips. We pretty much go to queens NY all the time to see her family and it is like a camping adventure. LOL

Also we are planning to have another child soon so it was a better choice now. Plus my wife grew up ridding in the station wagon era and mini van years.

It's life, but I made a promiss to her then when we sell our other house, (hopefully in a few weeks) I will take her to get another KJ.

My wife was actually starting to get involved in off roading with me too. so now we only have 1 KJ and she is getting the know mine now. LOL

Gonna get the My other car is a Jeep sicker on the van.

Gotta say at leaset I bought another american product .
Ford freestar. althoe its a ford, but its american. wanted the dodge mini van but did no tlike what they had.

No japanese vehicle would ever, ever ever darken my driveway, walking soulds more apealing. The day I cant find an american made vehicle to suit my needs is the day I buy a horse, an american one at that.

I see no real purpose in why you posted that Wendell. Your hatred of non-American vehicles, especially Japanese-owned vehicles, are well established.

I'm sure John Wayne is smiling in his grave.

Jeep Dawg,

I can definitely see the advantage of having sliding doors on both sides and having the bucket seats, but the diapers have a great risk of sliding/flying to the fron drivers area since you don't have a separated rear cargo area.

Our household is a Mopar household. If it wasn't made by Ma Mopar, it doesn't belong (AMC is the exception). Shortly after My sister got married, she got a Saturn 4 door. My Dad was not happy. Neither was my sis after a year. She quickly learned to hate that Saturn.
