Its easy, go to the used car dealership late at night. find a Renny and take it, you'll need a screwdriver and a wrench and set of sockets..... don't get caught.

To be serious though I have the same problem, Iv been searching the junk yards for a renegade that I can salvage one off of, so far no luck. Ebay almost never has any for cheap.

If you find a place that has them cheap let me know.

I'm hoping that they don't fit on the KK so Mopar will have a whole warehouse full of them that no one is ordering and will go for sale just over the manufacturing price.

You could probably do a roof rack with some Hella lights for far cheaper. And it looks like you mean more buisiness.

Yeah, not to burst your buble, but the renny light is plastic and looks cheap. It's a scocker mom's lightbar. A roof basket and hella's for sure look more manly. Besides, no know where you would find one cheaper. Even those who have them and think they look cheap, can't really get rid of them because of leaving holes in the roof.

I think the stock lightbar on the renegade looks fine, fits to the curves a lot better than any aftermarket setup... And just incase you didn't know, the lights in the light bar are made by hella...

well personally, I love the light bar. I dont think it looks cheap. It Fits the lines of the KJ as stated above, and gives better aerodynamics so in that case better fuel economy.

If i didnt drive this thing everyday, not care about exspensive gas, then i would do it, but the way i would do it is a defender roof rack (250+) with 4 Warn SDB-160 lights (about 300 a pair).

And I'm pretty satisfied with the amount of business it looks like it means now... And if my KJ was called a soccer mom KJ on this site I would laugh...

....and I thought it was every owner's dream of a KJ without the light bar to get one  ...really though, I think it looks slick but a expensive spend for myself right now. Good luck with the search!

What I like about the lightbar is that it does not add to the height of the vehicle. It sits forward on roof where it slopes lower and It puts out plenty of light.

Now that I have lifted mine and put bigger tires on it... it is getting dangerously close to the top of the garage. I don't think I could have got a rack/lightbar on it and still have been able to pull it in. As it is, I will be able to get it in with 32's and another 1/2 of clevis (which I might do someday).

My next house will hopefully not be so garage impaired... (or HOA impaired for that matter).

I just realized if I put a roof-rack and Hella/Warn lights on it, I will no longer be able to park in the garage.

Mopar/Renny Light Bar FTW.

It wouldn't stick well since it has the rough textured surface as the sport bumbers and flares. You can do it but it would not last very long, even using adhesion promoter.Automotive grade paint needs a specific preped surface to bond to to last and that rough plastic is not one.You can use different shades of gray and such by using Krylons fusion plastic paint but they don't have matching colors for the KJ.

Cheap looking and soccer mom??? I could not disagree more. I also have not read many Renegade owners on here complaining about their light bars. But I guess everyone has different tastes.

I like this look:

And this:

I know the old school thinking is that a Jeep is "Built" and not "Bought", but it's OK some times to like and accept things that come stock on a vehicle, even a Jeep. I love the stock Renegade light bar and think it fits the KJ perfectly. Plus as others have mentioned it does not raise the overall height of the vehicle much, if any.

Too bad they stopped making Renegades here in 2005. I really like the Foglights as opposed to my lame, recessed ones.

You put bedliner on your roof!! Dude that is bad @##. Really good idea. I might go that route. With the kayaks on top I am always getting sand, dirt, and metal buckles from the straps hitting it. Did you just tape out the area with painters tape and go to town on it? How well does it stick?

Also I agree the stock light bar is slick. I like the way it looks and the lights are low pro so you get better aerodynamics and with me loading kayaks on top all the time I think a aftermarket light bar would be in the way and get smashed easier.

I professionally sprayed it on when I painted my KJ,it's the same stuff used on the lower 1/3 of my KJ(Mortan's sprayon bedliner, not the cheap rollon stuff).

Sorry to dig up an old thread on my first night posting, but I was also looking at the light bars and wondering if they could be painted. What you said about the paint not adhering to the rough ABS plastic surface is correct...but, what if you sanded down the plastic to a smooth finish with a fine grit sandpaper... threw some plastic primer over it, and then top-coat and clear coated it to match the body? Yes, it would require some elbow grease, but I believe doing it right the first time would really leave a sweet looking impression. Reason I am thinking this is because I hit a deer a month after buying my KJ (of course...didn't hit anything with the '95 Exploder I drove before for 6 years somehow) and when I took it to my buddy's dad's body shop we both kind of chuckled at how much plastic the jeep's front end had. Now... don't Jeep and the OEM replica companies just send body shops plastic parts that need to be replaced? His body shop seemed to do a fine job mounting and painting the replacement parts (if they needed to be.)

I'm going to be adding one of them to mine. I've already gotten the 160 amp alternator. I'll be leaving mine black since my KJ is silver. I think you get it done with Line-X Extra. It can be color matched rather well. Should stick with no problems. Won't be cheap, but it should look great and last a really long time.
