My jeep doesnt sit level in the back anymore, I think I busted a shock. I was wondering if I can use the OME Shocks for the rear with the stock springs. Im not ready to lift just yet.

Thanks.

Thanks.
Shocks have no effect on ride hieght,it's more likely one of your rear springs is sagging more then the other(or both).Shocks just control the spring movement so you don't go bouncing down the road long after hitting a bump.

I'll take a pic. Im considering ordering an OME next week. I brutalized the jeep today pretty good. But I thought, if one shock was dead, wouldnt the other one expand all the way, mis-matching the ride height?

I cant imagine I pounded the spring down that much. Though I did have 4 passengers. Im going to take the wheels off tomorrow when I wash it anyways, Might as well inspect it.

If you believe its a problem with a shock making it un-level, then take them off. I wouldnt recommend driving around like this since it can cause you to loose control.

But as tjkj said, shocks are basically dampeners, they do not support weight.

When the suspension collapsed on my Nissan Skyline last summer, it was because the shock would absorb, but it wouldn't un absorb. It collapsed completely and stayed that way. The tire was basically riding the bumpstop. And that was on stock springs and shocks.

Im going to check it out today anyways and whatever is broken will be replaced. Im considering upgrading to OME system springs and shocks, but I have a drivers side mirror to replace.

Nevermind Im completely retarded. I was so tired last night I forgot my driveway has a little dip in it. I parked off to the side so there was full access to the garage.

The suspension is fine, Looks a little worn after inspection.

Back on topic, it would be interesting to know if I can get OME shocks/Struts with stock springs.

Shocks don't set ride height, but they are affected by it.
If you use a longer shock with stock height springs, you could prematurely wear them out.
They'll top out from time to time, wearing the valves out because they're too long, possibly "Blowing" the shock out.
The OME shocks uses a disc valve, and the KJ shocks aren't that much bigger.... so you should be ok.
Having said that, we won't warranty it if you blow it on a stock spring.
Keep it in mind anyway.

What ARB said.

Be sure you get the regular 132 rear shocks and not the 132L shocks. Those allow for more flex but also need an extended bumpstop.. :)

I noticed the N134 shocks are for factory replacement, but I've changed my mind a little. After having all the gear and weight, I need a beefier spring in the back as well.

Im looking at getting OME948's for the back with N132 Shocks.

For the front OME926's and NS131 Shocks. 926's because Im going to run a winch but no ARB bumper (yet). I think that should work fine.

Probably order it peice by peice. Anyone know a good vendor with fair pricing that ships to canada?

Thanks for all your help.
