So I have had my brand new KJ 2005 for about 4 months. I went into my local 4 wheel drive reatil store. One of the largest in the country, they even send out a fdree magazine.....That beeing said I will leave their name out of it.
So I am in there with my son we are checking out all the cool gear, the shock display that you can pump up, the lights and the bars. I wait untill the kid behing the counter asks me if I needed help and I explain to him that I would like to inquire about my diffrent lift options.
He asks what kind of rig do I have... I respond with KJ........ He looks at me SKOFFS kind of rools his eyes and the goes into some IFS speech. My fists clench at the same time my jaw does, I give this guy the 1000yard stare as he continues to down play my LIB.
Hot HOt Hot yes I was and still am, I will never spend a dime at this buisness and will take all of my buisness to another local 4x4 retail store. They may not be as big how ever the owners son asked if he could company me on a trail to see how the Lib performs. They were impressed and offered me a Skyjacker Lift for 20% off of list with a free installation.
I told him of my experiance and how they have gained a new customer. Just wanted to pass on my episode. I plan to get my lift in by Christmas, where I will pull my Lib up to the lawn of the first retailer and lay down some initials ( Just kidding)
I am a Manager at the second largest Home Improvement Retailer in the world and I could not believe the lack of customer service and the " Old Core attitude this Kid had about KJ's". Any how people will allways be strange to me thats why I go hit the trails to be at one with the porcupine. Hey Commander Commercial is on the one with the frozen cave man....gota go... BEn

Not to get into the "bad" store, but you should let everyone know what the name of the store is that was nice to you, so people know to go talk to them.

I know who you are talking abut and they have shops all across the US. maybe we dont want to bash the guys...because it could just be one local shop...or also just one local guy that is the problem.

I have been there before and yes they are really into the big, pretty, hiway flyers...but have never had a problem with them.

Lets just chalk this up to one guy being stupid... later...clint

why refrain from naming the place if you have had a prob with them. maybe you can save someone else in your area the trouble of dealing with them.

"4 wheel parts" doesnt like ifs because they cant mount up 4 chrome shocks to each side of it. i bought my last lift through them and they fugged the install (easy bolt on stuff for a tj) and it was a total pia to get them to replace the procomp tires that chunked apart on me so i havent been back. they have decent prices but all of them i have been to or heard about have the same customer service problems.

It's always a personnel issue. You cannot dismiss an entire business on the performance of one person. If you truly feel that you were given really bad customer service experience, report it up the chain of command.

You'll be doing the kid a favour --- he will learn a valuable lesson about work ethics, about whom he's really working for.

Just remember half these stores are used to either working on a 87 blazer that is basic and simple, unlike a modern vehicle, and half of the labor force are just out of shop class in High School, or the other half are blinging out H2's which is a bread and butter work for them, not requiring any thinking.

dirtykj beat me to it.

You should go back to the store and ask to talk to the manager about the employee's attitude and poor customer service. If he is a youngun, he needs to learn about CUSTOMER SERVICE now. I am one that doesn't believe the customer is always right, but you treat them fair and with respect.

You should tell that small business to visit our website to learn more about the KJ and drum up more business, perhaps. Sounds like a very open-minded and friendly business owner.

I would write a letter and send it to corporate just letting them know how dissatisfied you were with the dude, you do remember his name, right? I'm sure the company wouldn't be too happy having one of it's employees basically throwing away business.

I think I know the place KJs 2rt is talking about. Back when I lived in WA, with a TJ, they messed it up, so you are better off that the kid chose to avoid a sale versus getting the sale. Olympic is the way to go!! They are awesome! I have seen some of their work on Broncos and TJ's... Great quality shop.

I just got my new "Off-Road Adventures" magazine and they talk about SFS conversions for an S-10 and some other vehicles (i.e. Toyota's). Now if those are IFS also (correct me if I am wrong), why don't they make fun of those vehicles? We needs some of those SFS KJ's to get their pictures plastered on those magazines to get us looked at more seriously. I saw a Geo Tracker completely monsterized yesterday. It had at least a 4" lift and 35's on it. We need to be heard throughout the off-road world.

I can't wait to see what Clint and the other guys out there are planning. He keeps teasing us like a 16 yr old girl with her date sitting on the sofa while the parents are out.

GET USED TO IT

You own a Liberty....your different than the heard of Full Sized Pickup and TJ owners. Not better ...not worse...just different, but most people that you run into have never even seen a lifted KJ....not to mention one on a difficult trail.

When they do see you on a difficult trail you'll have the satifaction of knowing that they're probably pissed off that your little KJ just did the same trail they're Macho Rig did and they aren't as "EXTREME" as they thought....or the KJ is better than they want to admit

The 4WP store here in San Antonio is pretty good and the guys there have never said anything negative to me about my KJ. I usually get some looks from other customers when I pull up though.

You just can't fix stupid....

Now granted, I am on the TJ side of the fence now...but I had to handle my share of stupid comments...imagine a chick pulling up to the top of a tough trail in a Liberty to a circle of rubicons! I just told em that a helicopter dropped me off at the top of the last hill, smiled, and drove on... :D

Would love to drive it, but with only a week off at a time and three people (maybe four), driving is just out of the question. Would be a great trip though - but 1900 miles one way is just a little much for a 7 day vacation.
