Can someone get me the Mopar part number for both a quart of 5w-20 and 5w-30 motor oil? I want to see which the local dealer put in my 07 at my last oil change.

Thanks!

My dealer stuck in 5W-30.
Not sure why since it says 5W-20.
Maybe it doesn't hurt anything, maybe it does, but if they put anything in that's not specified in my manual then they should call and ask first.

This is why I'll soon be doing my first ever oil change. Will be throwing away the coupon for a free oil change. I don't want them touching my Jeep again.

I've taken mine in for its first two oil changes as I received them free. From now on, I'm doing it myself. I'm just curious to see how knowledgeable this dealership is. They do good service work -- I'll give them that much.

You SHOULD be running 5w-30. 07's are rated for -20, not -30. Dunno why...

I got mine at Birmingham Jeep in Troy. They were one of the first locally that had Latitudes in stock.

Why should he be running 5w-30? You just admitted that YOU DON'T KNOW WHY Chrysler specs 5w-20 for the 07? Explain.

I think he was just saying that the person who had the 2003 Liberty should be running 5W-30.
The 2007's should be running 5W-20.
The specs are different for '07's.

They are only using the 5W-20 to help meet across the board CAFE standards. (mileage related crap) IF they can save tenths per tank on all their cars they get left alone. Most of the auto makers are switiching to 5W-20 for the same reason. You Can still run different weights w/out creating any problems. YOu can bet they didn't change any of the oiling system just the weight of the oil they spec.

Thanks JohnnyCash for clearing that up for JimKJSVT. I didn't think my post was that confusing, but, oh well

JimKJSVT, no need for caps bud. Caps = yelling. If you don't have anything to contribute towards my part number request, then you really need not post. Thanks!

EDIT: And JJ, thanks for the info about the switch to 5w-20. I knew the oiling system wouldn't be changed...just curious what the dealer stuck in. Mine's a lease anyways...so...whatever the dealership does under warranty is what they're responsible for 8)

I don't "need" to use 5w-30 as my vehicle is recommended for use with 5w-20. I know 5w-30 is acceptable though. I just wanted to see what the dealer supposedly puts in the 07s...not what I 'should' be running.

I use Mobil 10w-30..

They use 5w-20 to try and get better mpg out of the 3.7..

use the weight of oil that you should use depending on your area. The manual calls for 10w-30 down to 0F and 5w-30 for anything lower than that.. Ive never been in weather colder than 10F, so I use 10w.
