My ex-girlfriend brother worked at a local “grease monkey” oil change place. I’ve been getting free oil changes for a while. Well no more  ; as of 2 weeks ago he decided to move on to a different field. Anyways, at my last oil change he told me about a new oil filter he was going to install on my Liberty I trust the guy so I said no prob. without even asking anything. Well today I was doing my oil change and notice it was a MOTOR TREND HIGH PERFORMANCE OIL FILTER #MT3600 I did a search and could not find anything info on it :?: I called him up and asked when did they come out he said a few months ago, maybe early 2007. When did Motor Trend start making oil filters? Does anyone have any info on these filters?

BTW I normally use Purolator oil filters.

" The magazine also issues accolades for car care products, and licenses its name out to car-related goods ranging from oil filters, ipod and cellular accessories to sunglasses." (Wikipedia)

Should run out and get some sun glasses too. 8)

I remember seeing them on the clearance isle at wally world once in our local store. wonder who makes them? Could be anyone and they could be Ok or suck. Unless you can open one up it would be hard to tell for sure.

They're pretty much the same as anything else. I think they're made by Fram. it's an oil filter:P

arent WIX supposed to be really good? i found a wix dealer/building about 15 mi naway from me in stow. i usually use mobil one filters or purolator, or STP. i tend to stay away from FRAM, just because what i have "heard" not sure if its true or not, not saying they are bad, but i dont know.

I've heard the same things about the FRAMS. Basically that they just come apart into your oiling system... Mmm... nice.

Wix are great filters. FWIW, The only filters that Amsoil will sell besides their Ea series is Wix, Donaldson & Twin Air (for cycle/atv apps.) They have tested those filters and feel they are good enough to not attempt to compete with them for their intended applications and uses. (great for normal oil change intervals for example)
