Hey there guys, i just sealed the deal on my 04 renegade with 42,000 kilometers on it this morning. Now its loaded with the light bar and all that good stuff. But on the light bar it has covers over it, i was wondering if they served any purpose or do most people just take them off and leave them off.

Now that i have the liberty i will even more questions! lucky you guys huh lol.

I'm just shooting from the hip here but isn't it illegal in some jurisdictions to have accessory "offroad" lights un-covered while on the road?

Yes. Check your local laws, but in most places you need to leave the covers on while you are on pavement.

I don't really see a saftey issue with leaving the covers off, however if you turn the lights on while on the road I'd bet you'll get ticketed.Does anyone know why it's illeagal to have them uncovered while turned off?

Some states or counties have laws that state you can have no more then 4 white forward facing lights exposed at one time, and most places also state those white lights can't be above the headlights(with the headlights counting as 2 of those 4).Heck some states you couldn't get a new Renny at a dealer because of those types of laws.

Contact local law enforcement agency they would know. Just ask them if you have to have the light covers on or not , tell them what you have and they should be able to tell you

I could understand their reasoning behind "White" as in turned on,but when their not on they are just a piece of clear glass, and I'm just not understanding what threat they pose being turned off yet uncovered? I understand there are laws against it,just have'nt heard of a legitimate reason why.

harder to turn them on and blind people, on purpose or accidentally, with covers on. That is why.

Another question, will these 255/65 tires cause any rubbing issues with my fenders if i flex the jeep to much? I bought it with these tires, no lift either.

USAFCOP is right. At least that's what the highway patrol guy told me when I got my ticket.
