many of the lordco trucks here (auto parts store for you americans) run on natural gas, little f150's. Hydrogen cars are not that far off

So since you know so much please tell me just where your planning on getting the Hydrogen to run your little fuel cell car from smarty? I would love to know....

Setting aside the humor of asking me to keep it clean then attacking me for disagreeing with you...

In 20 years time, assuming fuel cell technology has advanced to the point where mass use in transportation is possible, I'd assume we'll have also invested in hydrogen infrastructure. It would be pretty dumb to offer fuel cell cars for sale without building the fueling stations to go with them. Building the fueling stations is the easy part--we already have that technology for fueling natural gas powered vehicles (like many of your local UPS trucks). It is developing fuel cells that do not cost more than a small house that is the challenge.

We'll see what the future brings with biofuels production. I was simply pointing out that it is way off base to claim farmers are being forced to grow crops for fuel production, or that such production is currently forcing up the price of food.
Please don't buy into the hydrogen BS. Hydrogen is not a fuel, it's a very inefficient energy transfer medium. It's extremely dirty to make, and takes much more energy to produce than is released when used in a vehicle. Hydrogen is just an expensive, polluting way for big oil to maintain their dominance of the energy markets.

Well forgive a man for reacting when provoked.... On this point it would seem we have somthing in common no? yes its all a joke if you boil it down enough...

I dont believe our natural gas supply can bear the burdon of our demand for fuel. Not to meniton, our entire economic prosperity depends on the exponetnaial (it may be some other mathmatical curve but still) exploitation of resources. If not put in check, no amount of energy from anywhere will fix the issue from running away at some point. Delaying it IS definitly a very strong possibility however. I hope the proverbial "they" does come up w/ somthing. I see evedence to that effect but not to the level I think it needs to happen to make a difference....

It hasnt force the price of food up, thats not even what i said, stock prices go up in many cases due to "comming legislation" and "futures" as people anticipate changes in markets on projecting future market patterns, very common investment stratagy. i believe, nay, IMHO, there IS a coorilation here. I dont think the coorlaiton is that off base but then again there's no mystery,, we dont agree on this.

There is always more to any story no matter how off or wack it may sound. i dont hope you will ever agreee with me (although it would be nice ;D ), i hope at the least it makes you think. I have done the same in hearing back your comments. Really I think our disagreement boils down to this:

You believe someone will come along and save you w/ technoligy.... I do not...

Believe me my brother in this,,, I would rather be you! But im not so i have to live with that.

Now that right there is funny! I've never driven a more under powered vehicle than a humvee(H1) I can't imagine how slow they are now with all the armor they have had to add on over in the sandbox.

Becuase I hate changing spark plugs.

Not really

Once you own a diesel you will inderstand completely. Diesels are either loved or hated, and the majority that hate them have never had one. Most people that purchase them love them or grow to love them. Like everyone has said in the above replys Power, MPG, Sound and the cool factor. What else do you need. Just my .02

my wife always says, diesel trucks drives her nuts

There is no better sound than a turbocharger winding up in a tunnel.

When I'm sitting at a drive thru and I cannot understand the person talking because of the crappy speaker the person inside cannot understand me because of the diesel engine noise. What? Huh? Please repeat that. Your first. :)
