How many of you went to the Jeep event at the dealerships on the 15th? I went and I got a lot of looks and a lot of questions asked (from customers and salesmen). Everyone loved the rear bumper and the look of my Renegade. Salesman asked about it because he has an XJ and wanted to know more about it.

Marty, you might be getting a call or email from this guy about XJ stuff.

Of the 4 Jeep dealers in our area, 3 were listed as participating. Of the 3 listed, only one knew anything about it :?

We went to that dealer and got our free Jeep umbrella :D Got a couple comments, including "When I saw your Jeep, I thought you were the Jeep rep who is coming tonight".

Thought that was pretty funny.

I was there with about three other clients. Lots of baloons, stale cookies and a cooler of drinks. No KK's and the main liturature on display didn't include it.

I wish the drawing was just at the local dealer since I would win three new cars!

I went to the dealer that was listed on my invite. Registered for the sweepstakes while my wife made a sandwich from the deli tray they had. Wandered around the lot and noticed they were very low on stock of every model. They had like two (07)Liberty's, two Grands, four Patriots, no Compass and maybe ten Wranglers(eight of which were manual transmission-hard to sell around here). They didn't have a single 08 model in stock and only a few brochures even mentioned the KK Liberty. One of the salesmen said they mailed out around 1800 invitations but only expect about one percent to even come in. He said they would be happy if thirty people showed up. Rather dissapointing, but at least I'm in the drawing for a new car.

i just so happened to stop by to get my contract finalized (ive owned the car for 3 months and we are just now getting the contract settled; have yet to make a single payment) and Go Chrysler Jeep seemed to be moving the compasses fairly quickly. A lot of young males who had girlfriends clinging to them seemed to take liking to them. they have plenty of '07 liberties still there, a good portion of soft top wranglers with manuals, no patriots (dealer said they have a shelf life of about 1-5 days...) and almost no compasses left, which has the same shelf life as the patriot. i did get to see a compass with the rally package and its a great lookin' machine. manual tranny feels clunky when stationary but out on the road it was good!! no ones buying grand cherokees it seemed like, since there was a whole back portion of the lot with what seems like hundreds of them, along with the 32 commanders that were back there.

We went to the one near us, very, very disapointing- we didn't get a free umbrella. On hand were plenty of balloons, sandwiches and softdrinks. All the salesmen were too busy ignoring customers while they ate too (ours had a turn out of 10 people). A sad amount of cherokees (4) bling bling cherokees (we're thinking of the cherokee for our next one), not exactly the rough and tumble equipped we hoped they would carry.

The highlight of the 20 minutes we were there were the free munchies :( well we did enter the drawing.. and when we asked for sales brochures they were locked up in the parts dept which had closed 2 hours b4 the "event".

Went to the one here. Plenty of people. The hit was a black Avenger convertible. Pretty sharp.

I did not go, but your comment on the commander got me to thinking. As far as I know, they are discontinuing the commander? Maybe one more year? I am thinking that this vehicle might some day get cult status due to its rarity and quirky look. Maybe like the old wagoneers, maybe the wood paneled ones. Just a thought. They do look roomy and comfy, and although kinda frowned upon, I am thinking that in a dozen years that might change. 2cents....

i went...

same story, it look as if the sales men ate all the food, and if they were not eating they were standing at the front door smoking....

so i put my name in the box and left.... very sad that it wasnt more. It felt like all the employees that were there were just looking at the clock waiting to go home... could care less that i was even there.

Yes the dealers are really interested in selling Jeeps arent they?!!  Now if you would of walked in with a fist full of cash things may of been different! I stopped at a dealership the other day and the salesman walks out and says "so ARE YOU READY TO START DRIVING A JEEP AND TRADE THIS THING IN? BY THE WAY WHAT IS THIS? We can make you a great deal trading it in!" I just walked on by him shaking my head, think he had ate too many cookies as well!

I fully intended to go the event in Golden , Colorado. But unfortunatley that very day I got fired from my job of almost 9 years. Yes it SUCKED big time  Anyway I'm still scambling to find work or some form of income I don't want to go on unemployment but I'm afraid I have no other choice. As I said I'm still in shock and a bit of a funk about this. It's alot harder for people over 50 to get employed especially with health issues. . But I'm down but not out of the fight yet.

My 'big event' was at Lithia, our only nearby dealer. I won't go near that place.

Too bad, woulda won one of those cars.

Why not go to Lithia? I have had nothing but "great" from the one near me. Then again, it all comes down to the individuals working at any one place. Not just policy.

Rush: Sorry to hear. Federal jobs........look there. USAJobs.com

I appreciate the advise since you are in my neck of the wood you know the King Soopers philosophy of if your on the old union contract they will find any excuse they can find to get rid of you since the new contract hires are about 30% less pay scale. I have never been fond of the union mind set but for once I'm happy to have them watching my back it's not over yet but I never hold my breath on these type of issues the union Rocky Mountain UCFW 7 has let me down more then once but hope spring eternal in the mean time I'm researching possibiltys in the Paint industry. I'm down but I'm not out.
Thanks for the Support 8)
