I get a hoot out of those threads that talk about the Jeep purists who consider the Liberty a chickmobile. When I see one going down the road it is at least a 50/50 bet that it be a guy piloting it, maybe better than 50/50. On the other hand, when I see the purists beloved Wrangler I swear that in my neck of the woods most likely there will be a lady at the wheel unless it is heavily modified for the trail or old.

Come to think of it our secretary drives an old Wrangler so that last may not be true. On the other hand I am not sure that she is a lady either so maybe we are back to square one  .

well this is what I see and I do LOADS of driving some times 300+ miles in a day
I see as many as 10-20 4wd KJ's that have not and will never see any thing more than a dirt road with both men and women driving them
I see 20-100 wranglers in a day with about the same ratio of drivers
I will not even go into the 2wd KJ's I see 500,000 in a day

I have stoped and talked with the drivers of said rigs and they buy them for looks not for function
I ask them to come and "see what they were made for" they say "ok sounds good" but never show up

The reason that the KJ gets the "girl jeep" lable is
1) a dime a dozen in the mall parking lot
2) NONE out on the trails ,at least not in our part of the world

Now I should stop complaining about this because when we take our KJ out the guys driving YJ's and TJ's on 35's stop to wach our KJ because they have NEVER seen one out on a trail but I would rather see more getting wheeled to help end the name calling

I drive a KJ when we take the baby because it is easy ,4 doors
I drive the TJ because I like the top down and the doors off but that is just me
I dont care what others say about me

I think it depends on the region. In this part of PA there are a lot of females driving KJs, but they also drive TJs too. I usually see older folks driving Grand Cherokees. I have no idea what the statistics really are.

As long as it gets wheeled, who gives a sh*t.

I would give a Rav4 respect if it was out on the trail.

Its all about getting out and having some fun.

I was out today with 4 KJ's and 3 Wranglers. One of the KJ's was driven by a 16 year old girl! She went everywhere the Wranglers went and she was stock like me. You should have heard the good comments. There will be pictures of the Ocala Hard Rock run in do time.

Most of the Wranglers around here were purchased because they're convertibles - never seen off road - never seen 4x4 - but the top stays down 90% of the time(if they even have a top)

When I was shopping - I could find 2-3 year old Rubicons - that had never been offroad - parents bought them for their high school kids. Gues they had to have the hood decal....

There's a black Rubicon in the parking lot that's never seen off road, I doubt a gravel road. The couple just doesn't seem to find the time though all the people with the KJs that work here have offered many times to take them with us. We have 8 KJs here and I've been off road with 6 of them 2 owned by ladies.

The only chickmobile out there is the pink one you get for selling x amount of make up. To each his own. I've had my KJ for a year and half and no longer care what the 'Jeep purists' think. I was getting my last free oil change the other day and the shop manager said he my Jeep see's more dirt than alot of wranglers they work on in town. Really, though I am not out for hard core rock crawling. Just hitting the trails and having a good time teaching my girls about nature and how to treat the land.

my neighbor across the streets owns a modified wrangler built for mud, all diamond plated interior. He also has buddies that come over with modified wranglers and they all like my renegade, never had any smart booty comments, even when i told them ive had it offroad

Thats a fact, there's more and more chicks driving wranglers. Women are drawn to the kj because it's an suv and it's small. Women as a rule perfere smaller vehicles as I do, must be my feminum side showing ha ha. Women also love the ford escape, there again it's small. They want suv's, just small ones. Men think bigger is better, give them an excursion or comander and thier at home. When wheeling, to me, smaller is better. I use to run a 75 bronco, many cj's and rangers. I wheel an 04 ranger now along with my kj. If it's small and it's cute, you'll find women drawn to them, thats why they like me, I'm small and cute ha ha.

Make any vehicle what you want of it IMO, it's about your style. I had a slammed truck, just for style and fun. I have a lifted Jeep, that gets parked it mall parking lots often, I could care less what the blowhards think of it. I live in pretty much a city, and it's just a smart vehicle to have rather than a excursion. IMO if your car determines your personality, you have more to think about than what you drive.

I see more older people navigating KJs these days than anyone else....I look to see if it's a chick and it ends up being an old guy with his wife in the passenger seat driving along, taking their time and enjoying the ride.

And I have to agree with Donnie's comments...including the last sentence of his post. Well put.

In my book...if you drive ANY Jeep...You're cool to me. Regardless of gender or age. 8)

thats why i dont understand why some jeep owners go after a another jeep owner. Should be on the same team!! thats like having a wrangler and hating the other guys because his tires arent as big or its not a 5 speed. Seriously, not everyone is the same, thats why they call us individuals not robots. They provide different jeeps to suit different peoples needs!

I'm in no way sexist, but in my neck of the woods, the clear majority of KJ driver's are female. I'm not trying to perpetuate the bad rap amongst Jeep purists, but that generalization seems to fit where I live. From what I've seen, if it's lifted, or has any mod really, it's usually a guy. I've only seen a lifted KJ driven by a female once. I've seen tons of KJs with no mods at all except a flower sticker  or a maybe a custom tire cover with a picture of two kids and the text "We love you, Grandma" quoted by them
I drive 100 miles a day at least and always look to see who's driving Jeeps.

The lowest of the low is when you see the KJ with the pink window decal "Its a Barbie Jeep thing... you would not understand."  :x

Nope, don't understand.

The KJ replaced the Xj and the Xj was a girl Jeep too. For every XJ I saw it was easy 10-1 women to men. I still think seeing a big guy sit in a little cherokee looks stupid. But people eventually came around and stopped calling it a girl jeep after the liberty came out. Give it a couple more years for lots of women to pick up a compass or partiot and then the KJ won't seem so bad.

Let's face it, you like what you like. The KJ is nice enough to be a decent family car and you can still take it offroad if it suits you. I've seen plenty of girls out driving wranglers with their "silly boys, jeeps are for girls" stickers.

I'd like to say my KJ was all cool, but outside of a new radio, it is stock. I don't wheel. I don't have a lift and I may never have one since my idea of wheeling is cruising down a forest or fire road to take pics or head to the lake for some camping or fishing. Plus, when I think I can put the 1k for a decent lift and install through a shop into the payment, it doesn't seem worth it.

About the best you'll see out of my jeep is some larger tires with more aggressive tread, a roof rack for my snowboard and maybe some fog lights. I guess that means I'll just be perpetuating the girl jeep label.

I'm too worried about my stuff to care how someone else looks in their ride .. if I see another ride ( jeep or lowered ... yes I am in that crowd too ) .. I usually look for mods ...

I have to admit Mine is also mostly stock, any additions I have done are for performance or better milage concerned. But since last month when I got L.O.S.T. for the first time. I am now thinking of lifts and armor plating. But despite popular belief Denver only gets dumped on about every other year or so. Normally it snows and by the next day it's mostly melted off. But when it does snow I do want to go where ever I please with ease . Hence the Libby. But as I said now that I've found out about you all I'm starting to think about getting a little dirty.
L.O.S.T. has been an eye opening experience. THANKS :D
