I tried doing a search and found a lot about the CRD engines as well as some Q&A’s about the transmission oil. However, I didn’t really find anything about what oil is best for the 3.7. Sorry if this topic has already been covered.

I’m going to do my 30,000 mi. change and want to know what I should use. Also, should I use synthetic or regular grade oil? From my motorcycle days I was using Moble1 synthetic – I think it was 5W30 maybe? The website I got my info from (http://www.maximum-suzuki.com/ if anyone rides a Suzuki Bandit and wants to check it out) all agreed that Moble1 was the best and I never had a problem with it. That bike was an air/oil cooled engine and didn’t redline until about 12,000 rpm so I’m not sure if the same principles will transfer over to the jeep.

So, is there one brand everyone recommends? If not at least let me know if it’s commonly agreed to go with regular oil or full synthetic oil. Thanks!

JJ definitely is the man if you want Amsoil. It is a truly fine oil and he delivers it right to your door. If you want to buy it locally, wallyworld has mobil 1 truck and suv in a 5 quart container (nice to put back in for recycling) for just under $20 bucks. Very good oil as well. Stay away from the orange filters. They can be baaaaad.

Although I have been an Amsoil dealer since 1976. I became a dealer just so friends and family had the best synthetic oil out their at a good price. Saying this I say use Amsoil you don't have to buy from me or anyone you don't want to. I have used Amsoil in every vehicle I've owned all these years. A lot of these cars I say only lasted because I had Amsoil. I was real hard on rides. But any vehicle I buy first priority is switch it out fromm bunper to bumper. Just my 2 cents worth. I'm not bad mouthing the competition just saying I like Amsoil better. 8)

Thanks for the info. I was going to bring it to a local Jiffy Lube b/c I'm short on time this oil change and the cost savings by the qt is not that great doing it on your own. However, I'm not even sure that Jiffy Lube has a quality oil if you want it. All there stuff comes from a large tank above the garage that is out of sight. So you can never actually see what you're getting.

How hard is it to get to the filter to change that out?

Filter isnt TO BAD but its kinda in a bad place.

If your not comfortable with doing it youself. Look around your area with a dependable independant. Jiffy Lube gave me some ridiculus price to change my oils with my supplying my own Amsoil. I have a local independant who is 5 star rated. He is pricy but in the years I've used him he's always taken great care of me. You Do Get What You Pay For. When he did my Libby right after I bought it and changed it over to Amsoil from bumper to bumper he rebuilt my rear dif and took it to a dealership for LBJ's recall. With all the horror stories of us getting raped by different shops just do some checking around with L.O.S.T. or others from other forums I would think you able to find some one in your area. Remember the cheapest price doesn't mean the best deal. I would have done my own but would not have recognised the rear needing rebuild or known about the LBJ's . Plus I live in a one bedroom apartment so really don't have the area to work I have the tools but working inside a garage is always preferable to laying in the street. Hope you can find some one to work with you. If all else get some estimates and post it their are some great people who wrench for a living who can advise you. Best of Luck.

LEAD :D FOLLOW or GET OUT OF THE WAY   8) :-)r :-)r :-)r
