I have seen on TV , both Monster Garage with Jesse James and Overhaulin with Chip Foose as I recall on multible occasions they have stated that if you put larger wheels and tires on you should also put in beefier brakes discs and rotors. Because with the larger mass you need bigger brakes. I don't recall having seen anyone discuss up grading their brakes sytem when putting on bigger tires and wheels. I'm just wondering if I'm off base , no problem but it just got me wondering. I mean everybodys talking about more power and more heavier duty system. Maybe I watch too much TV but being partually disabled (bad back). I watch these shows all the time to keep informed on higher performance possiblitys.

Well I've put on PowerSlot front rotors and ceramic pads and ceramic rear shoes, breaks still suck.No known "big brake" kits for the KJ yet.Vanco will make a hydroboost system for the KJ,we have the 14.5" of room for it(at least I do) and will be getting the setup when I do the SFA,just gotta get some measurements to him to make the mount plate. Will cost about $1200-$1400 to get it though, requires a modded PS pump also.1200 psi-factory setup,2700psi-Vanco hydroboost  ,I may stop for once  .

This right here is the major problem.. There isn't enough aftermarket interest in a big brake kit from a company like Baer brakes. Since there's no interest - there's no kit.

Ceramic pads probably make the most improvement. The slots and drill holes are only for looks on a replacement (factory size) rotor.

I've been OK with the brakes on my stock tires but they do make for some interesting discussions some times.

I’m not sure if you can compare motorcycles to Jeeps but the best thing all of my said they did for their breaks was adding stainless Steel break lines. They said (and I agree) it game them much better brake feel and also more power. B/c a normal break line while expand slightly from the pressure inside of it you loose a little power and feel. The SS lines won’t expand so the brake fluid has no where else to go but apply the power to the brake pads.

But I guess at the end of the day it’s the same as putting more pressure on the brake peddle itself.

As for the larger rotors can’t you just go up a wheel size to a 17” or 18” wheel? I would think you could still fit a 33” tire on a wheel that size and have enough sidewall height to run low tire pressure. Just my thoughts but I’m new to all this.

Cant fit a 33" tire on a kj.

I have 17in rims on my kj and have tons of room for larger rotors+calipers. I also have a decent amount of room with my 16" rims.

I noticed the other day that the WK's have dual piston calipers on the front. Would be cool to get one of those calipers on the kj.
