You guys from the "dry part of the country" are funny
water will not go up hill and just starting your jeep will blow water out of the tail pipe
idle will blow bubbles

I drive the flooded streets here all the time even little 1.6L motors in sami.s blow bubbles

Not a jeep, but cool all the same. This guy really goes into the water, but doesn't seem too concerned about the water in the cabin.

The engine is basically a big air pump, so no, water cannot get into the exhaust. The engine is still running at idle so once again, water will not enter the exhaust.

I would NOT shut the jeep off when the exhaust is under water. That can create alot of back pressure which is not good for the engine.

Look here. I and many others have gone deeper at Moab (Kane Creek Canyon). All the way above the door trim, which is about the tops of the tires.

I believe the specs on the Libby state it can cross water up to 28" deep but spec are meant to be exceeded

Anyone who's been offroading enough knows not to splash through puddles or water crossings. It seems like fun until your engine swallows some water, gets hydrolocked and destroys the engine

I suggest before making a water crossing chose your line carefully avoiding hidden rocks, stumps or sunken Samari's in the water, chose your gear (you don't want to shift gears or stop mid-stream) and move slow but sure.

Oh yeah, don't open the doors

Say, I don't think I've seen a Libby with a snorkel. Anybody have pics of one?

Look around on here. A few have added the mod (mainly from our friends down under where they created a commercial model for the KJ).

For years I was in the Paint sprayer industry and one trick they used on some sprayers was to install a one way check valve to prevent back flow of material. Could this be a possible solution to the breather situation??? Just a thought if I'm full of it wont be the first time wont be the last. But it worked for 3000 psl airless paint sprayers, and a simular design was used on airspray pressure cups.

I believe cool air needs to get back in there, when they cool down, so I doubt that'd be a good solution.

I thank you I wasn't sure if the check valve were a good idea I hadn't thought of getting the air in good point I stand corrected.
