Running Cleghorn to Big Bear 9/28

Some friends are coming up to do some camping and we're going to run a few trails on the 28th (Friday). We'll be starting out at 8:30am at the Cleghorn exit off the I-15. We'll be doing Cleghorn to Pilot Rock to Willow Creek to the 2n25, stopping in Arrowhead for lunch. Then we'll be continuing on to the 3N16 near Green Valley Lake, through Holcomb Valley, and then ending up at the Discovery Center. One of my friends has a fairly new (to him) stock Disco II that he doesn't want to risk any damage on, so they'll all be easy trails. Of course there's a few optional fun parts along the way.

Anyone is welcome to join us for the run.

hmmmm..I have been wanting to run Cleghorn.... penciled in.

That would also allow me to stop by the shop aterward for some work. I might have to leave the group earlier though for that. I'll LYK

BTW, Cool to see someone else posting up a run for our group. :wink:

Possible alternative... after Pilot Rock, rather than running Willow Creek and then taking the 18 over to Green Valley Lake to hop on the 3N16, what would you guys think about instead taking the 173 down and hopping onto Luna Mountain Trail, to White Mountain Trail, and on into Holcomb Valley from there? It's a bit longer but I think it'd make for some better wheeling.

There's also the outside chance that, if the fire tonight makes its way over to the 3N16, they may not re-open it in time for the trip in a couple weeks, in which case it'll be good to have an alternative.

I'll have to make sure that the 173 is open that far, as it's been closed at a couple spots north of Arrowhead.

As of right now they're saying 18000 acres. There is a mandatory evacuation of Fawnskin and Green Valley Lake, and a recommended voluntary evacuation of part of Lucerne Valley and the entire community from Running Springs to Arrowbear. Still no containment.

I can pretty much guarantee now that we wont be taking the 3N16 into Big Bear, and it looks like heading in from White Mountain may be a no-go at this point as well.

Yeah, it's a Friday.

Considering the number of trails affected by the fire, we're gonna cut this one a bit short. The run will be Cleghorn to Pilot Rock to Willow Creek. From there we'll just take the 18 from Arrowhead into Big Bear. There are a couple optional trails on the south side of Big Bear that we can consider doing, but we'll make that decision on the trail day.
