I have a 2002 Renegade with the 3.7. The compressor clutched smoked itself and I have a new one to put on. Anybody done this before? Is there anything to look out for or any special tools needed? Thanks.

Well by the sercice manual you'll need abunch of the Miller's special tools(or equivalent to):

Spanner wrench-part# C-4489
Rotor puller-part# C-6141-1
puller bolts-part# C-6461
Shaft protector-part# C-6141-2
rotor puller bearing installer-part# C-6871

Also needed are snap ring pliers and a Metric feeler gage.

Doesn't look hard but need alot of special tools so as not to ruin the compressior.

Do you know what the air gap is, that is needed on the front of the clutch? The part you use the feeler guage for.

Between 0.41-0.79mm.

Did it in my driveway last night. It took about 2 hours including cleanup. I used a screw driver in place of the spanner wrench. The spanner wrench would have made it a lot easier though. To pull the pulley I used a 3 prong gear puller. Snap ring pliers to get the snap rings out. Most of the special tools are for banging the new pulley and clutch piece on. I was able to do it with a 3lb dead blow and sockets. It helps to have another set of hands to hold the socket while you hold the compressor in place and beat on it. You'll need a big one for the pulley and a fairly small one for the final piece. The worst part is getting the final piece on all the way. It took a lot of beating. If you could take the compressor out of the vehicle you could probably replace the clutch in half an hour. You have to bed in the new clutch by cycling it on five seconds, off five seconds 20 times. It works now and no more roaring sound. Also the feeler guages were impossible to use on the new pulley. There is a lip on the pulley so when you put the feeler guage in it pushed the friction piece out and you couldn't get an accurate measurement. I reused the original spacer and it seemed to work just fine.

When I took it apart I found out what happened. The bearing for the pulley completely fell apart, half the balls were missing. This allowed the pulley to lean into the friction piece and cause the noise and eventually all kinds of smoke.
