Anyone seen these streaks on their rear window? They seem to appear a day or so after it rains. I know it’s from the hinges. I think they are aluminum anyone made any sort of repairs on this? Maybe thrown some paint on them?

I don't know that there would be a fix. I just assumed that it was dirt and dust that collected underneath the cover. After washing and drying the KJ, I'll get a streak like that from the water that runs out from under the cap.

Oh there is a fix. My g-friend’s TJ used to get the same thing off her side mirrors. The bracket was also aluminum. It was powder coated, so I just removed all the paint and primed and painted it and it has held on pretty good. I just want to see if anyone else has done anything different. Maybe there is something out their that might work better and last longer.

Fairly sure that hinge is all plastic.

It is just where the water gathers and brings the dirt with it. When the water dries the dirt is left behind.

Here you can see how much of the powder coating is chipped off. This is the left side the right one is not as bad. They are not metal. Took a magnet to them and it wouldn't stick.

They are what's called "pot metal". It's basically a combo of crap metals, usually leftovers, made into a soup. Cheap, can't be welded. Usually used where looks or strength are not a factor. Used to see it all the time in various parts.
