I need new tires and do not have a lift. My tires are the stock tires that come on an 03 Limited and their life is just about over. Does anyone know the best tire and biggest size I can use?

I'm running 245-70/16 General Grabber AT2 w/o a lift. No problems/rubbing (except when I twisted my front air dam and it pushed the inside of the wheel well toward the tire). But... mine is a mid-year '02, so it is prelowered. Still, the 245s are only 1/2" taller (29.5") than the stockers (29").

I just had 245/70/R16s put on my 03 Liberty sport this morning. Nokian Vatiiva ATs. No rubbing at all. Very sweet tires with aggressive treads and superb grip. Their siping is second to none and are known for their bad weather tires.

No lift on mine and I am loving these. 29.6" diameter. the stock 235s are an even 29". the stealership told me once that you can get away with up to an inch larger on diameter without rub...235/75s are the tallest without lift. 245s are 10mm (about a half inch) wider than stock with the same height sidewalls as stock.

DarbyWalters has fitted 235/75-16's to his 06 CRD with no lift.

He has a lift now but they fit before as well. I think they are 29.85 inches tall?

Yep ~29.84" (like a 30" tire)

Hercules Terra Trac ATs:

Aggressive Tread patters with plenty of siping...

Clears the pesky pinch weld with (like this pic) or without a lift...

The best part is that if you get a lift in the future, the tires are big enuff to still look like they belong there:

Darby, those look sweet!!! I like that tread alot too. I was going back and forth with the 245 vs. 235 dilemma...went wider in the end. Like the 13" antenna and those skids look like they will take anything. Wanted to say "Nice AsFir", but didn't want to come off the wrong way. LOL!! Nice ride. 8)

245/75s fit with some rubbing on a prelowered KJ without a lift, so without a lift on your lowered 03, stick with a 245/70 or 235/75.

I specifically took these pics today because I thought there was a guy asking about how big of a tire you could stuff under a prelowered KJ, but I suppose this is the one I was thinking of

Thanks guys. Those Hercules Terra Trac ATs look great. I like the idea of being able to have a big enough tire that it will look right when I get it lifted. But by that time I will have probably have worn out the new set anyway. At least it looks like I have a few options. Because it was prelowered I was afraid I would be stuck with the 235/70 16. Thanks again.
