Does anyone have any experience with COOPER tires. The COOPER DISCOVERER STT looks pretty aggressive but I haven't seen anyone on this forum running that particular tire. Am I missing anyone?

I had the Discoverer ST's (not the STT's) and they were unimpressive pretty much everywhere. Wet traction wasn't any better than my MT/R's, dry traction was better though. Not a BAD tire...they lasted 46,000 withOUT proper care, and they weren't dangerous in any situation, but you're really not asking about the ST's.

There've been quite a few people I've seen here on the forum running the STT's. I don't remember who, but they have been, and the STT's have typically been compared to the MT/R, so it must be pretty decent.

I had the STT's on my '86 samurai. I really liked them although I wouldn't imagine that they do anything that a BFG would do given the same design. I have heard that the BFG's are softer, however when you have them on a vehicle as lite as the sami (975 KG's) softness isn't a concern. I didn't drive them very much because I was out of the country for 3 summers, so I can't comment on wear.

The Coopers have followed suit with the other manufacturers and have a pretty aggressive sidewall on them now, but when I bought them, they didn't. The downside for coopers, at least in my hometown, is that they were a fair bit more $. Could have just been the shop though.

No complaints. No rave reviews. If you get a good deal on them, give them a shot.

I'm running STT's 265/70/16, they are great. No problems, good traction on the black top & lot's in the mud/dirt. They cost more than the rest over here but I'm happy to pay :D The main reason I got the Coopers over another brand was the Sypes in the tread, from what I understand they help when on the black top with traction in the wet. At least that's what I was told & I've had no reason to think otherwise. The other muddies I was looking at didn't have that feature & as I have kids in the KJ I want a good reylable tyre in all conditions.
