Back on topic...he seems to have done what "SuperLift couldn't bring to market", "RockKrawler brought to market but couldn't make work" and only "JeepinAl has attempted and wheeled with success"...getting more than the 2.5-3" of lift out of an IFS Jeep Liberty. Who cares about what tires he chooses to run...that is an easy fix. The other stuff he did to get this lift to apparently work is what is important.

It WAS starting to sound like another forum that has a lot of trash talk. Don't go there anymore. So............how long have you been running that set up?

thank you!! Im i liftin my kj with this set up about 4 months ago. and really i havn't done anything major to it just the combo lift I don't even have new control arms which i need.. and it still seems to operate as it did.. i know i made a bad chioce on the tires but dont reem me for it, and as he said i can fix that. i plan to put a straight axle under the front so i may not fix the problems i have right now.. but if i were to fix them i would get new control arms and also customize my rear control arms to give me more flex. and possible drop everything down similar to the rock crawler lift for the front end. but since i plan to swap out the front i most likely wont be changing anything other than finishing my bumpers i just started cuttin, bending, and welding them up and will hopfully have them finished before winter. And sorry again to bother everyone on earth about my mistake on tires.. once tread wear is gone i will replace them with either boggers or bfg's mud terrain tires..

Forget about the tires...get that SAS done...the more that are done right, the more we will see. These KJs are getting old enuff for people to start taking that next step. I have only done the OME lift on mine to keep me sane and make it how the Liberty should have been stock (2 1/4" lift with 30" tires). Eventually I want to make mine a two door panel style with a flat cargo floor. Then do a SFA kept down to about 4" of lift if possible...like a Land Criuser. Something good for the street and great for the trails and leave behind the LBJ, UBJ,CV Angles troubles behind.

so, since you did the combo lift, and did no other moidifications, you arent getting any sounds from the front end, such as binding or popping ? nothing at all ?

when i first put the lift on mine, it mos def made some funny arse noises sometimes, but everything always checked out, and it finally went away. put the ome hd's on and no issues. i wouldnt mind trying it to see what would happen with mine, but wanted to specifically know about the noises, vibes, or any other kind of oddity after you did that. seems like you wouldnt have any downward travel when stretching the suspension that far down.

and your jeep does look sweet.

The thing is, the more that try something, the more we all learn. I don't think I'll ever go to a SFA but a good 4" lift would be sweet. What I really like doing is surprising people with what a KJ will do. IFS and all! Anything you tried that didn't work and what did work you should post it. Might even get some good suggestions

How far out is the alignment on it swampthing? I know mine is at the max and with no long arms (JeepinAls) can you get it close? Just wondering?

Thanks

Tom

the only noises i get is from my top control arm hitting the spring when i hit a large bump in the road but im pretty sure after replacing the control arms that noise would go away. the only thing i need to be careful about is turning completely while in 4wd with my axle angles im sue they would pop with enough torque while turned.. i do highway driving all the time and it does fine.. although it was tough getting everything in under the front i had to use a 20 ton hydraulic compressor to sqeeze them in.. one trouble i have is in 4wlow if my tires start to grip as if i were going to get stcuk it hops.. but in regular 4wd it does fine or if i baby the throttle in low it will do fine too.. SFA will be tough but i really want to do it.. i just don't know if i coul djust buy a parts jeep either a cherokee or wrangler whatver will work and just take everything from the front and swap it out.. i know it would be alot of work but it just seems a lot easier to lift and operate with a SFA. ive gone up great inclines with it and it does fine does great in the mud. i did end up breaking the inner tie rod going up a hill in low 4wd my front just hopped them "pop" but i changed it right there in the woods.. and kept going. also that was before the recall on the tie rods.. which i never replace so maybe that had something to do with it. if you have any suggestions or ideas for my SFA idea throw them at me.

well everything is as close as it can get except for the caster, i think if i remember right its out like 1 degree or a little less.. on the road it drive straight and steering wheel is straight.. really no problems on the alignment. In the pictures it was after i broke the tie rods so i had to get another alignment..

On behalf on Swampthing I can attest that a lot of Fullsizes run spring and spacer combos.

Ill most likely be down at the river today.. Just go toward Ross on 128 or B street and once the speed limit goes to 55 your about a mile away or less then you will se a pyramid hill sign on your right for the entrance where you'll wanna go is right after that on the left in two big chain link fence gates. just go all the way back then down the trail on the right and it weill take you back in all the trails... i wont be doing anything crazy because my outter ball joint is going bad and needs replaced. ill be there today early afternoon..

Errr...yeah, that. It's been too long since I've been in the area so I guess I misnamed.

I gotta hang around here for a little while...hopefully we can meet up next weekend or something, I wanna see this beast in person
