Do you drive through car wash with it? Have you had any problems before? If not, do you take it off when you are washing the jeep?

Thanks.

Hey Huseyin, I never took it off when hand washing. I just did the best I could at getting the roof clean. No one can see up there anyway.

Hey sport, it was nice meeting you. :) Thanks for the reply. Let's see if anyone drove through car wash with this setup. I am not that much concerned about the front or back of it, but the side mounting places look like they can get caught in those rags as they swipe on the jeep. Otherwise I have to stick to "hand wash" places or wash it myself..

we've got a "touchless" carwash near my work that would probably work fine. no rags just power spray.

Hyedepin, was looking at your pics over in that other forum...looking good. What are your thoughts on the large mopar brackets that attach it to the existing side rails? too large? just right? don't care? I kinda like them, they look like a good grab spot to help pull yourself up to the roof to pack stuff. That's a great looking basket and I bet it would look equally stellar with the mopar cross rails I just put on and without the big brackets...either way, nice score. How are you liking it? any pros or cons so far in the short time you've had the basket?

The basket is great. I really wasn't expecting anything this sturdy. When I saw those brackets on someone else's basket, I thought to myself "What are those!?".. They looked bulky on the side, and too thin to hold it on the profile, but they are great. I really don't mind them at all.

You can see the pictures of it on the above category, I have a few close ups.

My problem was that when I got them the padding on the clamps were worn a bit, surely they could work, but I ripped them all out and grabbed door weather stripping from home depot for $5. I stuck them on the bottom of the bracket and that immediately made it non-slippery. I just screw them on and there it was. I shook it, now it stands like it is one piece with the rails. You can see the strips on this closeup: http://gallery.jeepprojects.com/details ... age_id=528

I had no idea how much I should tighten them, so I kept tightening them until they all were at the same level. I have no wind noise or any other drag that I could tell, and this rack is heavy.

Next stop, I hope someone can tell me where I can find these babies:

No way I am paying $400 OEM price for just set of 4 lights... :D So I need a good deal on them.

Check ebay for those lights..I believe they are Hella FF75s or something like that...I remember someone on here a while ago bought a whole bunch and installed them everywhere on their roof basket....

As for going through car washes with the MOPAR roof basket I've done it lots of times with no issue whatsoever...its also nice having a friend whose parents own one and you can get the code for it FREE...but anyway...yea...there ya go

**Friend, **own a car wash, **travel to memphis to get a free car wash...
Hey, thanks for the input. I am gonna go through it before this weekends trip so my jeep looks neat at the LOST meeting

Yep, you are right, they are 75s. http://www.autoanything.com/lights/69A1330A0A0.aspx I just have to think of a way to mount them since these will just come with bolt/screw at the bottom, and I don't think that can screw right onto the basket.

I really like my mopar rack as well. I have only used the "magic wand" types of washes-no problems at all. Right now I have a thick coating of blue winged olives (bugs) on my deflector that I need to hand scrub off!

I'm thinking that those side brackets would be sweet spot for a high lift and/or shovel/axe. do you think that a high-lift would be able to be slid inside the profile of the side bracket? Nice feature! I really want one of those.

might be too narrow, I used those holes to mount my fishing poles. It worked really well. you could always mount the high lift on the outside of it.

I mentioned the fishing pole and kayak paddle mounting in those brackets somewhere! Do you have any photos with the fishing rods in place?

Also wanted to ask about the fairing. It looks on the photos that it's almost straight up and down. I thought they would be angled a bit and overlap the crossbars instead of going between them. Is there much wind noise from this rack with the fairing?

I have an OEM roof basket.

Those mount 'loops' on the sides are not beefy enough to hold a Hi Lift jack, I tried it. I did mount my jack and it bent those little 6mm factory mount bolts.

On another note: A Yakama basket has axe and shovel mounts available. I bought a set of these and they do indeed fit a Mopor OEM roof basket. The Yakama Hi Lift mounts also fit the OEM basket BUT, because of the 'loops' on the OEM basket, the Hi Lift jack will NOT fit inside the 'loops' and mount onto the Yakama Hi Lift mounts.

No, I would not attempt to drive it through a car wash and I doubt my local car wash would allow it.
