I have a Rosen 10" flip down (forget the model) that has a built-in DVD player. I normally connect my iPod video to it's aux input because DVD's are so 2002. 8)
The audio can be heard on wireless headphones or through the aux input in the back of the stock radio (CD Changer port). I use the JL Audio CL-SES as a switcher for the Rosen screen, my iPod and my Sirius.
The Rosen deal also has a slot for an optional video hard drive, but it does not support Mac...Can you believe that??? There are also a bunch of games built in and can be played with wireless controllers.

"does not support Mac"

That is weird. I thought video standards were just that: standard. Huh! Very weird, indeed.

It probably meant they accept RCA/S-Video/NTSC or VGA analog DB-15 and not DVI.

Or maybe he's talking about the "video hard drive" not supporting Macintosh's HFS or the new HFS+ filesystem.

The hard drive has a sync cradle and plugs into your PC via USB. The problem is, it only knows to sync with the "my videos" folder in Windblows. I run a microsoft-free household. The software to transfer files is not compatible with OS X and it probably can't read MPEG-4 files that all of my iTunes movies are. Hence, I load up my iPod video and work it that way (through the aux in).

It would be sweet to run a front mounted waterproof video cam to capture off road stuff.

JeepJeepster has just added a webcam to his rig
and Billforde has one up front. I am not sure if they are weather proof. If you want it to be weatherproof, just put a small webcam on the interior, maybe at the lower corner next to the tweeters facing out. That would be cool. Hook it up to like a laptop or something. You can get a cheap laptop from ebay for $200 or so, run Ubuntu or other Linux that has drivers for webcam (which you can buy for $20 at walmart) and there, you got yourself a little setup.

There is a place here in Denver called "Action Computer" See: http://www.actionpc.com/
They specialize in reconditioning computers and reselling them, this could be the source for some of these items at a reasonable price. Besides the Web Cam, the added tail veiw camera to use for backing up could be handi also not to mention adding more cameras in key locations could be awsome >
Question number 2 have you looked into media player as your format?? It is rather simple.
I'm no computer guru that is why I ask. Have a good one 8)

Yea, I found out the hard way that the FPS were not enough on the webcam.

How sweet would it be to have a few cameras mounted under there with a screen inside. Heck with spotters, you would never need them!

I know the Liberator had cameras mounted in the side mirrors. You could see the line you were taking and such. it was cool.

Blake, I checked that camera and it does support 30fps. You just had to lower the resolution on the computer end. If you can drill holes to your mirror, you can do the same thing like Liberator had. I don't think you need one that's facing forward. Maybe one that's facing the blind spot would be more useful. Only if I continued to take programming classes, with motion sensor script and cheap camera you can have something that can cost $5000 that is on Lexus and Volvos for fraction of that. Cameras sensing blind spot movement.

Just like once rearview cameras costed so much, now anyone can get them for like $75 with a monitor and a few cables.
