Still but the trailer tonigue sits so high. It would be angled down really akward to the kj even if this adpater was put on the hitch reciever.

Everything but the 1/4 tons are built to tow behind a 6X6 so thats why they sit so high and why they are so dang heavy, would never work behind a Jeep of any kind. One guy on another forum tried to use one switched out the axle for a lower 2500 lb one and it was still too heavy to pull around all the time he said.

You might take the time to look at the Adventure Trailer. They are one of the very few that are a true off-road trailer. They do not have all the weight that the Mil Trailers have and are very well set up. http://adventuretrailers.com or http://lostzj.com. Let me know if you have any questions and I will help out. The base weight is right at 750 lbs and the larger model is right at 1100 lbs but believe me thay are built very tough and will for sure go any place you can take a Jeep. No axle hanging down with just about any option you could come up with. I am running a group 31 battery with a solar panel, fridge, all LED lights, and all kinds of other cool things. All matching wheels and tires so you can add them in to the rotation and it really adds a lot of miles to the tires. Elec brakes and a very cool lock and roll hitch which does not make the unreal banging noise like the pintal hook setup. Very easy to pull with any Jeep. Hope that helps. Later...Clint

Adventure Trailers are in deed one of the nicest trailers out their but the PRICE the price is the deal breaker. It would be nice if Adventure Trailers were sold as a kit (disassembled) with a heavy discount. If I was to get a military trailer I would not only get it because of the price but as a project trailer.

I love those Adventure Trailers, but it doesn't really fit my needs that well. I need a cargo trailer, more than a camping trailer. If I could get an adventure trailer stripped down to the tub, it'd be on my shopping list.

You can order the Adventure Trailer as just a tub without the lid or tent and the price might not be as bad as you think. Drop Mario an email and let him know you talk to me about it. He might even be able to do a kit that might save some bucks as well. Let him know you were talking about it on the LOST forum for sure. He knows the LOST guys very well and is always willing to help out. Hope this helps. Later...Clint

Thanks Clint. I shopped on the website and couldn't find any options for ordering without any camping gear on it. If I can get one stripped to the tub, then I'll check with Mario. Thanks for the heads-up!

Thanks Clint, I guess that I thought you had to buy the whole thing. I have a 1/4 ton frame wonder if it would be close to bolting up or if I would need to get a new frame? OK have to go look closer now since i know this

Thanks again

Tom

I like that first one, but it's a Snowbear model that I could buy new for about $550. If I could actually get it at $400, it might be worth it. But his Buy It Now price on a 5 year old trailer is about the same as the current new price.

The second one looks promising, if I could get it for the current starting price, I might think about it.

I heard back from Martyn at Adventure Trailers and he said that the base Chaser trailer is the stripped-down version. "It would look just like a military trailer. You would have to add tires and rims to the package plus a multi axis coupler and you would be set." I pulled down the price sheet and, unless I'm reading it incorrectly, the base Chaser is $3999. Way out of my price range. I sent his an email back to clarify that price, but it's not even in the same store that I'm shopping in if it's near $4k.

I am starting to think about buying a couple trailer suspension parts, a tube bender and welder from Norther Tool and making my own.

Saw an interesting trailer on the road today. Smallish, all one piece plastic body construction, yellow molded tub, lights and stuff molded in. Orange top on which was mounted a small Thule cartop box. Looked really rugged but sort of like one of those water coolers the contractors use at job sites! Tried to get a brand but it was movin in traffice so I couldn't see any make on it.

I"m sure any military style trailer is going to weight in more than 1,000lbs. What do the Bantam weight?

Similar, but more molded plastic, less fiberglassy.

Bantam and 1/4 tons are more like 550 to 650 at most but will haul three times that. The 3/4 and tonand a half weigh in over a thousand tires/wheels would be 300 lbs plus they are just too big and bulky to haul with any jeep, I saw one behind a crew cab 4 wheel drive chevy and it made the truck look small!

Got an email back from Adventure Trailers. Stripped version (cargo floor, no wheels/tires) is $4k.

Tentrax CargoPac trailer, stripped (no lights, wheels, etc.) is $3300.

It's looking more and more like I might build my own. Jeez!

That M101 is a 3/4 ton trailer. I thought one of those might be a usable option, but DANG are they BIG! The sit REALLY high and are much wider than the KJ. Not really something I'm looking for, especially at $1000. I've seen those M101s for $300 because most people buy them and then realize that they're not very practical unless you own a old Duece & 1/2 or something.

I'm doing drawings for a bare-bones off-road cargo trailer. I'd like to have a bender and a welder at home anyway.
