It's no surprise that they would cut the crossfire, it was actually a benz with chrysler skin. Since Diamler and chrysler are no longer joined at the hip, the crossfire was doomed.

bummer about the magnum wagon.

I guess the fantasies about seeing a 2.8l CRD motor in that along w/ AWD... and the re-badging w/ the name EAGLE won't happen now. Shame...

If Chrysler is providing VW w/ a minivan... how 'bout VW providing Chrysler w/ a TDI motor? Pop it in the caliber? Rock, roll, repeat.

With oil reaching 100.00$ a barrel isn't the time to be pushing big V-8's in anything, it's asking for trouble Pushing common rail diesel tech in a varrity of vehicles seems like it would be the smarter move. We know people need big trucks and V-8's for certain tasks, but it's not gping to be a big selling point when people are just trying to afford enough gas to get to work. The hemie isn't going to have the same appeal in a magnum or charger and even a truck as it did a year or so ago. With gas prices being so uncertain is going to start to have a panic effect here shortly if not allready.

vw has said that the chrysler minivan platform is going to be hard to manipulate to accept their tdi motor for the minivan, but they are going to try to be the first diesel minivan on the market! as far as supplying chrysler with tdi motors... i bet the v10 tdi from the toureg would rock in the durango!

As diesel now sales for more than gas in most places, you would really have to tow often to warrant the mark-up on light-truck diesels. Figure how long it would take you to recover the $6k+ premium if you just bought it for the mileage. I did put 180,000 miles on a CTD dually, but many of those miles were towing an 8,000# trailer.

Sorry, Guys, but VW's are some of the worst cars on the road. Their service records & longevity show that time & time again. Even if the TDI is ok, what about the rest of the car around it? I know that VW's have a cult following that will be up in arms over this statement, but an objective look shows this to be a valid statement.

I read the truck 6.1 was slightly detuned, with about 390 HP, and running regular fuel. The TQ figure, which is really what matters, was reportedly almost unchanged.

A big engine in a truck? Obvioulsy you have never actually needed a truck. Most trucks sold have been cars with big open trunks. Only recently have 1/2-ton trucks been upgraded to acceptable levels of towing/hauling. Heck, for decades 1/2 ton trucks came with p-series car tires. That has to tell you something. If you can get by with less than a full-size half-ton, you would be way ahead by buying an econo box and renting a truck the few times you needed one. If you are buying a truck for a fashion statement, then it doesn't matter anyway. Go ahead and buy your car with a big open trunk. Much like 95% of the KJ owners will never use them for anything but a station wagon. I am not knocking those people as freedom of choice is a great thing, and few of those probably post here anyway. But if you just wanted a station wagon, there are far better choices than the KJ, don't ya think?

Not many station wagons available in 4wd.. Unless you go suv..,, subaru off-hand is about the only one I can think of,, and the forester is butt-ugly, I have an 06 kj for the wife,, we do live in the mountains and drive in snowy conditionso 4wd is a must,, but I like the real world crash results I have seen on the kj.. I've worked in and around body shops and seen some impressive hits with the kj and the passengers were in decent shape.. much better than the little foreign cars..
